INTERNATIONAL NEWS2014-ին, երբ Ղրիմ թերակղզին ներառվել է ՌԴ կազմում, Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելը մշտական կապի մեջ է եղել ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ: Այդ ժամանակ կանցլերը չէր կարող պատկերացնել, որ Մոսկվան որոշելու է միջամտել Կիևի` Դոնեցկի և Լուգանսկի ինքնահռչակ հանրապետությունների միջև դիմակայությանը:
