Այս տարի բնական աղետներից վնասը կգերազանցի 100 մլրդ դոլարը։ Այս մասին Կոլորադոյում ելույթի ժամանակ ասել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը, հաղորդում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։
«Անցած տարի բնական աղետները Ամերիկային արժեցան 99 միլիարդ դոլար: Այս տարի ռեկորդը կգերազանցվի, այն կկազմի ավելի քան 100 միլիարդ դոլար»,-ասել է նա։
«Երեկ ես անձամբ տեսա Կալիֆոռնիայի անտառային հրդեհի կործանարար հետեւանքները: Վերջին երկու շաբաթվա ընթացքում ես մեկնել եմ նաեւ Լուիզիանա, Նյու Յորք եւ Նյու Ջերսի ՝ տեսնելու, թե ինչ վնասներ է հասցրել «Իդա» փոթորիկը: Բնական աղետները, որոնց մենք ականատես ենք լինում, տեղի կունենան ավելի հաճախ եւ ավելի կսաստկանան: Տարեսկզբից ամբողջ երկրում գրանցվել է 44 000 անտառային հրդեհ, որի արդյունքում այրվել է 5,6 միլիոն ակր [ավելի քան 2,2 միլիոն հա] տարածք: Դա միլիարդավոր դոլարների վնաս է հասցրել եւ հանգեցրել տասնյակ հազարավոր մարդկանց տարհանման»,-շարունակել է Բայդենը։
Նրա խոսքով՝ պատճառը կլիմայի փոփոխությունն է։ «Ի՞նչն է առաջացնում կլիմայի փոփոխություն: Մարդկային գործունեությունը: Մենք պետք է ներդրումներ կատարենք, որպեսզի ավելի դիմացկուն լինենք կլիմայի փոփոխության հետեւանքների նկատմամբ»,-հավելել է նա։
Օգոստոսի 29-ին Լուիզիանա նահանգին պատուհասել է 4-րդ կարգի «Իդա» փոթորիկը։ Այն հանգեցրել է հորդառատ անձրեւների եւ ջրհեղեղների Նյու Յորքում, Նյու Ջերսիում եւ Փենսիլվանիայում: Անցած շաբաթ CBS-ը՝ վկայակոչելով տեղական իշխանությունների հայտարարությունը, հայտնել է, որ առնվազն 82 մարդ է զոհվել Միացյալ Նահանգների հյուսիս-արեւելքում «Իդա» փոթորկի հետեւանքով: «Կալդոր» հրդեհը բռնկվել է Կալիֆոռնիայում օգոստոսի կեսերին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Reuters-ը, հրդեհի հետեւանքով ավերվել է ավելի քան հազար շինություն։
