ԱԺ-ում հարցուպատասխանի ժամանակ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը հայտարարեց, թե Հայաստանում նոր ատոմակայանի կառուցման համար բանակցություններ են ընթանում: Հայտարարությունն արվել էր կառավարության՝ Զանգեզուրի պղնձամոլիբդենային կոմբինատի համասեփականատեր դառնալու հարցի շրջանակում․ ««Գեոպրոմայնինգ» ընկերության սեփականատերերից մեկի, տնօրենների խորհրդի անդամի կողմից Հայաստանին արվել է առաջարկ, առաջարկը քննարկել ենք, տեսել ենք, որ այդ առաջարկը համապատասխանում է ՀՀ տնտեսական ու պետական շահերին․․․Այս ծրագրի մաս է նոր ատոմակայանի կառուցումը, արդեն իսկ բանակցություններ են սկսվել նոր ատոմակայան կառուցելու վերաբերյալ»։

Փորձեցինք հավելյալ տեղեկատվություն ստանալ, թե ով է բանակցում, ում հետ, երբ են սկսվելու ատոմակայանի կառուցման աշխատանքները։

Հայաստանի ատոմակայանի գլխավոր տնօրեն, ԱԱԾ նախկին տնօրեն Էդուարդ Մարտիրոսյանը, նախօրեին պատասխանելով մեր զանգին, խոստացավ ավելի ուշ «մանրամասն» տեղեկատվություն տրամադրել այդ թեմայով, հետո անցավ ընդհատակ ու այլեւս չի պատասխանում մեր զանգերին։ Իսկ փորձագիտական շրջանակներում վստահ են, որ նոր ատոմակայանի մասին հայտարարությունը հերթական քարոզչական փուչիկն է, այլապես դեռեւս 2020-ի հունիսին Հայաստանը չէր հրաժարվի ատոմակայանի վերազինման ռուսական վարկից։ 2015 թ․ վարկային համաձայնագրով Մոսկվան Հայաստանին հատկացնելու էր 270 միլիոն դոլար վարկ եւ 30 միլիոն դոլար դրամաշնորհ։ Ուստի չի բացառվում, որ սա հերթական քաղաքական մանյովրն է։
