ՀՀ կենտրոնական բանկը 2021 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 13-ից շրջանառության մեջ է դնում «Ալեքսանդր Սպենդիարյանի ծննդյան 150-ամյակ» արծաթե հուշադրամը:Ալեքսանդր Սպենդիարյանը (1871-1928 թթ.) հայ մեծանուն կոմպոզիտոր է, դիրիժոր, մանկավարժ, երաժշտական-հասարակական գործիչ, ՀԽՍՀ ժողովրդական արտիստ (1926 թ.): Այս մասին հայտնում են ԿԲ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի ծառայությունից։

1892-1894 թթ. կոմպոզիցիայի տեսություն է ուսումնասիրել Ն. Կլենովսկու մոտ` Մոսկվայում, 1896-1900 թթ.` Ն. Ռիմսկի-Կորսակովի մոտ` Պետերբուրգում: Ապրել է Ղրիմում, ծավալել է դիրիժորական և երաժշտահասարակական գործունեություն: Որպես կոմպոզիտոր ձևավորվել է ռուսական և հայկական մշակույթների ազդեցությամբ։

1924 թ-ից Սպենդիարյանը ապրել է Երևանում: Այդ շրջանում ստեղծել է «Երևանյան էտյուդները» և ավարտին հասցրել հայկական երաժշտական թատրոնի լավագույն ստեղծագործություններից մեկը՝ «Ալմաստ» հերոսահայրենասիրական օպերան (ըստ Հ. Թումանյանի «Թմկաբերդի առումը» պոեմի, լիբրետոն` Ս. Պարնոկի):

Սպենդիարյանը մեծ դեր է ունեցել հայկական ազգային կոմպոզիտորական դպրոցի ձևավորման գործում՝ հարստացրել է հայկական երաժշտությունը նոր թեմաներով, ընդարձակել ժանրերը, հիմք դրել հայկական ազգային սիմֆոնիզմին։ Նրա «Ղրիմի էսքիզները», «Երեք արմավենի», «Երևանյան էտյուդները» և այլ սիմֆոնիկ գործեր հայկական սիմֆոնիկ երաժշտության դասական նմուշներ են:

Երևանում ստեղծվել է Սպենդիարյանի տուն-թանգարանը: Կոմպոզիտորի անունն են կրում Երևանի օպերայի և բալետի ազգային ակադեմիական թատրոնը (1933 թ.) և թիվ 1 երաժշտական դպրոցը:

Դիմերես՝ Սպենդիարյանի հուշարձանը (քանդակագործներ` Ա. Սարգսյան, Ղ. Չուբարյան, ճարտարապետներ` Գ. Աղաբաբյան, Ֆ. Դարբինյան, 1953 թ.)` Օպերայի և բալետի թատրոնի շենքի (ճարտարապետ` Ա. Թամանյան, 1932 թ.) ֆոնին, և պարուհի:
