Մեծ Բրիտանիան զորակազմ Է ուղարկել Աֆղանստանի Գիլմենդի նահանգ այն մասին հաղորդումների ֆոնին, որ թալիբները մոտ են ռազմավարական կարեւորություն ունեցող Սանգին քաղաքը գրավելուն, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով BBC-ին:
Ինչպես հայտարարել Է Մեծ Բրիտանիայի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը, ոչ մեծ թվով զինվորական մասնագետներ են ուղարկվել Գիլմենդի նահանգի «Քեմփ Շորաբաք» ռազմակայան: Նրանք չեն մասնակցելու մարտական առաջադրանքներին եւ ՆԱՏՕ-ի մեծ թիմի մաս են կազմելու:
Բրիտանիան Աֆղանստանում մարտական գործողությունները դադարեցրել Է անցյալ տարի, բայց շուրջ 450 զինվորականներ մնացել են այդ երկրում՝ աշխատելով օժանդակ դերերում:
Ավելի վաղ Աֆղանստանից սկսել են հաղորդումներ ստացվել, որ Գիլմենդ հարավային նահանգի ռազմավարական նշանակություն ունեցող Սանգին քաղաքը գրեթե անցել Է թալիբների հսկողության ներքո: «Թալիբան» շարժման ներկայացուցիչների խոսքով՝ զինյալներին հաջողվել Է գրավել քաղաքի մեծ մասը եւ հիմնական վարչական շենքերը:
Մինչդեռ Գիլմենդի նահանգի վարչակազմի ղեկավար Միխա Խան Ռահիմին պնդում Է, որ քաղաքը դեռեւս աֆղանական իշխանությունների ձեռքում Է:
