SOCIETYՀամաճարակաբանության պրոֆեսոր Լիամ Սմիթը CNBC-ին տված հարցազրույցում հորդորել է «չհանգստանալ»՝ կապված այն լուրերի հետ, որ կորոնավիրուսի «Oմիկրոն» շտամն ավելի հեշտ են հաղթահարում, քան մյուսները, և ձեռնարկել բոլոր անհրաժեշտ նախազգուշական միջոցները:
«Կարող է լինել մեկ այլ տարբերակ՝ ավելի վարակիչ և վտանգավոր. սա կարող է իրական «արմագեդոն» դառնալ, ինչպես գիտաֆանտաստիկ գրքում», - ասել է նա:
Մասնագետն ընդգծել է, որ սա համաճարակի հնարավոր սցենարներից մեկն է միայն։ Այնուամենայնիվ, նա ասել է, որ այժմ վտանգավոր է տարվել «զգուշավոր լավատեսությամբ», որը կապված է «Օմիկրոնի» հետ:
«Պատմական փորձը ցույց է տալիս, որ վիրուսին մնացել է միայն մի քանի մուտացիա, որպեսզի այն գոյատևի: Սովորաբար կորոնավիրուսները դառնում են ավելի մեղմ, իսկ նրանց պատճառած հիվանդությունները դառնում են կամ էնդեմիկ կամ ընդհանրապես անհետանում», - ասել է Սմիթը՝ շեշտելով, որ չափազանց դժվար է կանխատեսումներ անել ընթացիկ համաճարակի համար՝ պայմանավորված կորոնավիրուսի անկանխատեսելիությամբ։ «Նա իրեն բոլորից տարբեր է պահում»,- հավելել է նա։
