«Ինձ դուր են գալիս սիրահայերը: Համեստ, պարկեշտ, աշխատասեր, հարգալից, արժանապատիվ մարդիկ են: Նկատի ունեմ այն մարդկանց, որոնք եկել են Հայաստան: Ենթադրում եմ, որ հարուստներն այստեղ չեն եկել՝ ավելի լավ, ավելի բարեկեցիկ երկրներ են գնացել: Իսկ մեր կողքին ապրում են միջին խավի ներկայացուցիչները՝ մանր կրպակների սեփականատերեր, արհեստավորներ, սննդի օբյեկտներ աշխատացնողներ: Այնտեղ, որտեղ դրանց «մենեջմենթը» ստանձնում են սիրիահայերը, այնտեղ թե մաքրության, թե սննդի որակի և թե սպասարկման հարցերն ավելի լավ են  լուծվում: Չկա նրանց մեջ այն ցինիզմն ու «քոքվածությունը», որը հաճախ նկատում ենք նախկին «սովետահայերի» մոտ:

Հասկանում եմ, որ մենք և սիրիահայերն ապրենք ենք չափազանց տարբեր պայմաններում, յուրաքանչյուրս ունենք մեր առավելություններն ու թերությունները: Բայց այն, որ մենք տարբեր ենք՝ հենց դա՛ է հրաշալի:

Մեր մշակույթը (լայն իմաստով) թարմ ուժերի կարիք ունի: Մոնոէթնիկ պետություն լինելը մի կողմից լավ է՝ չկա անջատողականության և ազգային հողի վրա հուզումների վտանգ, մյուս կողմից՝ վատ, որովհետև մենք եփվում ենք սեփական կաթսայում, ճահճանում ենք: Եվ ահա Սիրիայում տեղի ունեցած ողբերգական իրադարձությունների պատճառով մեր կողքին են հայտնվել մեր իսկ էթնոսի ներկայացուցիչները, որոնք, սակայն, բոլորովին այլ մշակույթ են ներկայացնում, և որոնցից մենք շատ բան ունենք սովորելու:
