ԱՄՆ-ի և արևմտյան պաշտոնյաների կարծիքով, Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը կարող է պաշտոնապես պատերազմ հայտարարել Ուկրաինային հենց մայիսի 9-ին, ինչը թույլ կտա լիարժեք մոբիլիզացնել Ռուսաստանի պահեստային ուժերը, գրում է CNN-ը:
Ըստ արևմտյան պաշտոնյաների՝ մայիսի 9-ին՝ Հաղթանակի օրը, Պուտինը կօգտագործի օրվա խորհրդանշական նշանակությունը և քարոզչական արժեքը՝ հայտարարելու Ուկրաինայում ռազմական ձեռքբերումների մասին:
Պաշտոնյաները հակված են հետևյալ սցենարին՝ Պուտինը պաշտոնապես պատերազմ է հայտարարում Ուկրաինային մայիսի 9-ին: Մինչ օրս ռուսական կողմը պնդում է, որ հակամարտությունը սոսկ «հատուկ ռազմական գործողություն» է, որի հիմնական նպատակը «ապազգայնացումն» է:
«Կարծում եմ, որ նա կփորձի հեռանալ իր «հատուկ գործողությունից»: Նա հիմք է ստեղծում, որպեսզի կարողանա ասել՝ «տեսեք, սա այժմ պատերազմ է նացիստների դեմ, և ինձ ավելի շատ մարդ է պետք»», - LBC ռադիոյին ասել է Մեծ Բրիտանիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Բեն Ուոլեսը:
Արևմտյան և ուկրաինացի պաշտոնյաները հաշվարկել են, որ առնվազն 10 000 ռուս զինվոր է զոհվել պատերազմի ընթացքում:
Մայիսի 9-ի վերաբերյալ մյուս տարբերակները ներառում են Ուկրաինայի արևելքում գտնվող Լուգանսկի և Դոնեցկի տարածքների բռնակցումը, հարավում Օդեսայի համար մեծ ճնշում գործադրելը կամ հարավային նավահանգստային Մարիուպոլ քաղաքի նկատմամբ ամբողջական վերահսկողության հռչակումը:
ԱՄՆ-ն ունի «խիստ արժանահավատ» հետախուզական տվյալներ այն մասին, որ Ռուսաստանը «մայիսի կեսերին» կփորձի բռնակցել Լուգանսկը և Դոնեցկը, երկուշաբթի ասել է ԵԱՀԿ-ում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Մայքլ Քարփենթերը։ Կան նաև նշաններ, որ Ռուսաստանը կարող է ծրագրել «ժողովրդական հանրապետություն» հռչակել հարավարևելյան Խերսոն քաղաքում:
