ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Ենս Ստոլտենբերգը Ռուսաստանին կոչ է արել դուրս բերել զորքերը Ուկրաինայից՝ ասելով, որ դաշինքը կշարունակի աջակցել Կիևի իշխանություններին։ Այս դիրքորոշումը նա հայտնել է հինգշաբթի Մադրիդում ՆԱՏՕ-ի գագաթնաժողովին հաջորդած մամուլի ասուլիսում, գրում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։

«Այսօր մենք որոշում ենք կայացրել աջակցել Ուկրաինային՝ համոզվելու համար, որ նա մնա անկախ և ինքնիշխան եվրոպական պետություն», - ասել է գլխավոր քարտուղարը։ Նրա կարծիքով՝ Ռուսաստանը «պետք է դուրս բերի իր ուժերը և դադարեցնի հակամարտությունը»։

ՆԱՏՕ-ն իր առջեւ խնդիր է դնում կանխել Ռուսաստանի հետ Ուկրաինայի հարցով ուղիղ հակամարտությունը, որի վնասն անհամեմատելի կլինի, ասել է Ստոլտենբերգը։

«Եթե Ռուսաստանի և ՆԱՏՕ-ի միջև լայնամասշտաբ պատերազմ լինի, մենք կտեսնենք շատ ավելի մեծ մասշտաբով տառապանք ու ավերածություն: Հետևաբար, ՆԱՏՕ-ն երկու խնդիր ունի՝ մեկը օգնություն ցուցաբերել Ուկրաինային, բայց մենք նաև պարտավոր ենք կանխել էսկալացիան Ուկրաինայի սահմաններից դուրս:Ուստի ՆԱՏՕ-ն հակամարտող կողմ չէ»,- ասել է նա:

«Մենք հակամարտության մաս չենք, և մենք այնքան ենք էապես մեծացրել մեր ներկայությունը դաշինքի արևելքում, որպեսզի վերացնենք Մոսկվայի հաշվարկներում սխալները՝ կապված ՆԱՏՕ-ի յուրաքանչյուր թիզ տարածքը պաշտպանելու մեր պատրաստակամության հետ: Դա մեր հիմնական պարտականությունն է», - ասել է Ստոլտենբերգը:
