Ժամանակին ես շատ սրտաբաց էի, ժամանակին որն է` մինչև երեկ: Չափից շատ էի իմը համարում այն ամենը, ինչը սիրում եմ, սիրել եմ, երբևէ իմն է եղել, կամ ուղղակի շատ թելերով կապված է իմ հետ: Շատ էի նվիրվում ու անկեղծանում, բայց իրականում դա էդքան էլ ճիշտ չի: Բազմաթիվ կենացներ եմ ասել, որի հիմքում հիմնականում եղել է այն գաղափարը, որ իմ կարողությունները խալու նման փռել եմ կենաց լսողների առաջ, ու մինչ օրս չեմ լսել պատասխան նմանատիպ կենաց: Չկա տենց բան: Չի գնահատվում անգամ նվիրվածությունը, ասեմ ավելին` դա առաջացնում է դիմացինի խանդը առ սեփական կարողություն:

Մի անգամ գրել էի այն մասին, որ պետք չի սիրելի մարդկանց մասին արտահայտվելիս նրանց անվան վերջում ավելացնել Ս տառը, և չէի սխալվել...
Երբեք որևէ բան մի համարեք, առավել ևս մի արտահայտվեք, որ համարում եք ձերը: Ոչ, Ձերը միայն ձեր սեփականությունն է (փիլիսոփայական մոտեցումները դնում ենք մի կողմ ու խոսում միայն մերկանտիլ բաների մասին), միմիայն, ու ոչ մեկ արժանի չի, որ նվիրվեք նրան ավելին, քան նա է ձեզ նվիրվում, ու նրա ունեցածն էլ, խոհափիլիսոփայական նկրտումներից դրդված, համարեք ձերը, որովհետև տեսեք-տեսեք` նվիրված եք չափից շատ: Շատ կլինի ու ներտնական պայմաններում հանքային ջրով բացած մածունը, այսինքն գազով թանը կարող է անգամ չօգնել:

Աշխատեք, որ ձեր համար ու ձեզ հանդիպելու համար մարդիկ իրենց կոտորեն, այլ ոչ` հակառակը: Հպարտ եղեք, և հիշեք, եթե ձեր կարիքը զգում են, հաստատ կպայքարեն ձեզ տեսնելու համար, իսկ, եթե ոչ` ապա դուք ընդամենը հոգնեցնողի կարգավիճակում եք հայտնվելու...
