Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Հուլուսի Աքարը սպառնացել է Հունաստանին կանխիչ գործողություններով, եթե Աթենքը չկատարի Էգեյան ծովի արեւելյան մասի կղզիների ապառազմականացման պահանջները:

«Մի՞թե մեր քթի տակ զենք տեղադրելը սպառնալիք չէ մեր երկրի համար։ Մի՞թե դա մեզ ինքնապաշտպանության իրավունք չի տալիս»։

Աքարը Հունաստանին մեղադրել է Անկարայի հանդեպ «ագրեսիվ հռետորաբանության» մեջ՝ ասելով, որ նրա պաշտպանական բյուջեի հնգակի ավելացումը վկայում է այն մասին, որ երկիրը «ինչ-որ բան մտածում է» Թուրքիայի դեմ։

Թուրք նախարարը շեշտել է․ «Հունաստանը անում է հնարավոր ամեն բան, որպեսզի կանխի Թուրքիային զենքի եւ ռազմատեխնիկայի, այդ թվում ամերիկյան F-16 կործանիչների եւ գերմանական սուզանավերի վաճառքը։

Նա մեղադրել է նաեւ վարչապետ Կիրիակոս Միցոտակիսին եւ արտաքին գործերի նախարար Նիկոս Դենդիասին ագրեսիվ հռետորաբանություն եւ ագրեսիվ գործողություններ օգտագործելու մեջ, որոնք, նրա խոսքով, նպատակ ունեն փչացնել «պոտենցիալ պոզիտիվ մթնոլորտը, որը կարող է ստեղծվել երկու երկրների միջև։

Ավելի վաղ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հայտարարել էր, որ վերջին ժամանակներս Հունաստանը միտումնավոր խախտում է Լոզանի խաղաղության պայմանագրի դրույթները, որը թույլ էր տվել գծել Թուրքիայի ցամաքային սահմանները, երաշխավորել թուրք փոքրամասնության իրավունքները Հունաստանում եւ հաստատել Թուրքիայի ափերի մոտ հունական կղզիների ապառազմականացված կարգավիճակը։
