ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության մամլո խոսնակ Նեդ Փրայսը լրագրողների հետ ամենօրյա հարցուպատասխանի ընթացքում պատասխանել է Հայաստանի ու Ադրբեջանի միջև հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման մասին հարցին, մասնավորապես ՌԴ նախագահ Պուտինի՝ այս առիթով արված մի շարք հայտարարությունների վերաբերյալ: Իր խոսքում խոսնակ Փրայսը, մասնավորապես, ասել է, որ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նկատմամբ ԱՄՆ մտադրությունների վերաբերյալ շարունակվում է ապատեղեկատվություն տարածվել, այդ թվում՝ Մոսկվայից։ Ըստ նրա՝ Միացյալ Նահանգները տասնամյակներ շարունակ հանդիսացել է և շարունակում է հանդիսանալ այս երկու երկրների գործընկեր, ասել է Փրայսը:

«ԱՄՆ-ից ավելի մեծ աջակից չկա Հարավային Կովկասի երկրների, այդ թվում՝ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի ինքնիշխանությանը և անկախությանը։ Հայաստանի, Ադրբեջանի անկախության վերականգնումը 1991 թվականին Խորհրդային Միությունից կարևոր իրադարձություն էր, որը երաշխավորեց այս երկրներից յուրաքանչյուրի իրավունքը՝ անկախ Մոսկվայից կամ աշխարհի որևէ այլ երկրից հետապնդելու իր արտաքին քաղաքական և սեփական շահերը։

Այսպիսով, երբ մենք շփվում ենք Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի հետ, դա անում ենք միայն մեկ նպատակի համար. այն է՝ վերջ դնել բռնությանը և այս երկրներն ուղղորդեն դեպի կայուն և համապարփակ խաղաղության ճանապարհ: Մենք խրախուսել ենք և հստակ ասել այս երկրներին՝ Հայաստանին և Ադրբեջանին, որ նրանք պետք է հանդիպեն այն ձևաչափով, որն առավել օգտակար է իրենց համար։ Մենք հավատում ենք ուղղակի երկխոսության արդյունավետությանը՝ խնդիրների լուծման և այդ կայուն խաղաղության հասնելու համար:

Ես չեմ պատրաստվում կոնկրետ մեկնաբանել Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության ջանքերը, բացառությամբ այն նրա, որ կրկին այս երկու երկրներն են որոշում, թե ինչպիսի մոտեցում կցուցաբերեն այս առաջիկա բանակցություններին։ Կարծում եմ, սակայն, որ աշխարհը տեղյակ է Ռուսաստանի պատմությանը, երբ այն վերաբերում է իր հարևաններին և հարևան երկրներին: 2008 թվականին Ռուսաստանի ներխուժումը Վրաստան և նրա շարունակվող դաժան ներխուժումը Ուկրաինա ցույց են տալիս, որ Մոսկվան քիչ է հարգում իր հարևանների ինքնիշխանությունը և դժվար թե հուսալի, երկարաժամկետ գործընկեր լինի: Մենք կարծում ենք, որ դա կտրուկ հակասում է Միացյալ Նահանգների մոտեցմանը: Եվ կրկին, մեր միակ նպատակն է օգնել այս երկրներին հասնելու բռնության դադարեցմանը և կայուն ու համապարփակ խաղաղությանը, որը շատ են ցանկանում Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի ժողովուրդները»,- նշել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության խոսնակը:
