Ամերիկացի տնտեսագետ Ջեֆրի Սաքսը հայտարարել է, որ Եվրոպան շուտով կարող է ստանալ «նոր Աֆղանստան» իր սահմաններում՝ ի դեմս Ուկրաինայի։ Նրա կարծիքով, դա տեղի կունենա, եթե Վաշինգտոնը չփոխի իր ներկայիս դիրքորոշումը Մոսկվայի նկատմամբ և չնստի բանակցությունների սեղանի շուրջ։ Այս մասին նա ասել է պորտուգալական RTP հեռուստաալիքին։ Սաքսը նշել է, որ Եվրոպան եղել է «դիվանագիտության չեմպիոն», սակայն այժմ միայն լսում է ամերիկյան դիրքորոշումը։

«Այժմ նա ընդունում է միայն ամերիկյան գիծը. մենք պետք է հաղթենք Պուտինին: Մենք չենք բանակցում։ Այս մոտեցումը շատ վտանգավոր է Եվրամիության համար, քանի որ այն առաջնագծում է և կարող է մեծապես տուժել այս ամենից»,- ասել է նա։

ՌԴ նախագահի նկատմամբ նման քաղաքականությունը տնտեսագետը աղետալի է համարում։ Նրա խոսքով՝ ուկրաինական ճգնաժամը կարող է լուծվել ԱՄՆ-ի, Եվրոպայի և Ռուսաստանի միջև բանակցությունների միջոցով։ Սաքսն ընդգծում է, որ Բրյուսելը հետևում է ոչ թե բանականությանը, այլ ամերիկյան օրակարգին։

Տնտեսագետը վստահ է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն Ուկրաինան կվերածի «երկրորդ Աֆղանստանի» և այս երկիրը կթողնի ավերակների մեջ, քանի որ «դա ամերիկյան ոճ է»։

«Եթե ԱՄՆ-ն այսպես շարունակի, Ուկրաինան կդառնա հաջորդ Աֆղանստանը։ Մենք այնքան սիրեցինք Աֆղանստանը, որ ավերեցինք այն։ Դա ամերիկյան ոճ է»,- ամփոփել է Սաքսը։
