Նոյեմբերի 20-ին տեղի է ունեցել Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանին առընթեր երեխաների և երիտասարդների իրավունքների հարցերով հասարակական խորհրդի անդրանիկ նիստը, որի մեկնարկին Պաշտպանը ստորագրել է խորհրդի ձևավորման վերաբերյալ որոշումը։
Խորհրդի նպատակն է երեխաների և երիտասարդների իրավունքների պաշտպանության ոլորտում աջակցել Պաշտպանի գործունեությանը որպես խորհրդատվական մարմին: Խորհրդի խնդիրներն են՝ աջակցել Պաշտպանին երեխաների և երիտասարդների հետ համագործակցության զարգացմանը, խթանել երեխաների և երիտասարդների իրավունքների պաշտպանության ոլորտին առնչվող խնդիրների վերհանմանը, աջակցել Պաշտպանին երեխաների և երիտասարդների իրավունքների վերաբերյալ իրազեկավածության բարձրացմանը:
 
Նիստի մեկնարկին ողջույնի խոսքով հանդես են եկել ՀՀ Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպան Քրիստիննե Գրիգորյանը և Հայաստանում ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ-ի ներկայացուցիչ Քրիսթինե Վայգանդը։
Ընդգծելով խորհրդի նպատակը՝ Պաշտպանը նշել է․ «Տարիներ առաջ՝ նոյեմբերի 20-ին, ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր ասամբլեայի կողմից ընդունվել է Երեխաների իրավունքների մասին հռչակագիրը։ Սակայն սա պարզապես տոնացույցի հերթական օր չէ, երբ մենք պիտի միայն շնորհավորենք միմյանց։ Սա ևս մեկ առիթ է վերահաստատելու մեր հանձնառությունները և մեծացնելու մեր ջանքերը՝ երեխաների և երիտասարդների ձայնն առավել լսելի դարձնելու նպատակով»,- նշել է Գրիգորյանը։
 
Կարևորելով ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ-ի և Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանի արդյունավետ համագործակցությունը՝ ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ-ի ներկայացուցիչը ասել է․ «Հպարտ ենք աջակցելու Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանի ջանքերին՝ ամրապնդելու երեխայի իրավունքների անկախ մշտադիտարկումը՝ դրանով իսկ նպաստելով ՀՀ հանձնառությանը Երեխայի իրավունքների մասին կոնվենցիային: Այս սերունդը պետք է պահանջի կառավարությունների, բիզնեսների և համայնքների ղեկավարներից մեկընդմիշտ դադարեցնել երեխայի իրավունքների ոտնահարումը: Մենք բոլո՛րս պետք է քայլեր ձեռնարկենք՝ համոզվելու, որ յուրաքանչյուր երեխա կարող է իրացնել իր իրավունքներից յուրաքանչյուրը»։
Նիստի ընթացքում խորհրդի անդամները ներկայացրել են խորհրդի գործունեության առաջնահերթությունները, իրենց մտահոգությունները, բարձրացրել են իրենց հուզող կարևոր հարցերը և առաջարկել են տարբեր հարցերի վերաբերյալ իրենց լուծումները։
