Միացյալ Նահանգները խորապես ներգրավված է Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև հարաբերությունների կարգավորման ու տարածաշրջանում խաղաղության հաստատման դիվանագիտական գործընթացում և շարունակում է ուղիներ փնտրել երկու երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարների և առաջնորդների միջև նոր հանդիպում կազմակերպելու համար։

Երեկ այս մասին հայտարարել է ԵԱՀԿ-ում ԱՄՆ մշտական ներկայացուցիչ դեսպան Մայքլ Քարփենթերը՝ պատասխանելով թուրք լրագրողի հարցին, թե Ֆրանսիայի նախագահի մասնակցությամբ բանակցություններից Բաքվի հրաժարվելու պայմաններում արդյոք Վաշինգտոնը Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի արտգործնախարարների հանդիպում կազմակերպելու պլաններ ունի:

«Գաղտնիք չէ, որ մենք շատ սերտորեն աշխատում ենք Եվրամիության մեր գործընկերների հետ և նաև կիրառում ենք ԵԱՀԿ գործիքակազմը, որը հայ - ադրբեջանական սահմանի հայկական կողմում տեղակայեց կարիքների գնահատման թիմ՝ Հայաստանի դիմումով, բայց նաև շատ շատ աջակցում ենք սահմանին ԵՄ ջանքերին», - շեշտել է Քարփենթերը:

«Մեր նպատակը պարզ է՝ մենք կցանկանայինք տեսնել սահմանը որքան հնարավոր է շուտ սահմանազատված, մենք կցանկանայինք տեսնել խաղաղության համաձայնագիրը երկու կողմերի միջև որքան հնարավոր է շուտ, որպեսզի խաղաղությունն ու կայունությունը վերադառնան տարածաշրջան, հարգվեն մարդու իրավունքները և այս տարածաշրջանում ապրող բոլոր անհատների անվտանգությունը, և մենք կարողանանք նոր էջ բացել Հարավային Կովկասի պատմության մեջ», - ասել է ամերիկացի բարձրաստիճան դիվանագետը:

«Ակնհայտ է, որ այդ վերջնական վիճակին հասնելու համար որոշ ժամանակ կպահանջվի, բայց մենք պարտավորվում ենք անել ամեն ինչ՝ հասնելու այդ արդյունքին», - վստահեցրել է Մայքլ Քարփենթերը:

Ադրբեջանի նախագահն անցած շաբաթ հայտարարեց դեկտեմբերի 7-ին Բրյուսելում նախատեսված՝ Հայաստանի վարչապետի հետ հանդիպումը չեղարկելու մասին, քանի որ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը ցանկություն էր հայտնել, որ դրան մասնակցի նաև Էմանյուել Մակրոնը: Իլհամ Ալիևը պնդում է, թե Ֆրանսիան չի կարող միջնորդ լինել, քանի որ կողմնակալ է:
