Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին «տարվա մարդ» է ճանաչվել՝ բրիտանական ազդեցիկ Financial Times-ի վարկածով, հայտնել է թերթը դեկտեմբերի 5-ին։

«Զելենսկին նաեւ դարձել է ուկրաինացի ժողովրդի խիզախության եւ տոկունության մարմնացումը ռուսական ագրեսիայի դեմ պայքարում։ Հենց դրա համար է Financial Times-ը Զելենսկուն «տարվա մարդ» ընտրել»,- պարզաբանել է թերթը։

FT-ն նշում է, որ Ուկրաինան զարմացրել է ամբողջ աշխարհին, երբ դիմագրավել է ռուսական լայնամասշտաբ ներխուժմանը փետրվարին, իսկ հետո հետ է գրավել զավթված տարածքների մեծ մասը:

Բրիտանական պարբերականն ուշադրություն է հրավիրել ուկրաինական դիվանագիտության արդյունավետության եւ այս ուղղությամբ Զելենսկու աշխատանքի վրա։ Նշվում է, որ Կիեւին հաջողվել է Արեւմուտքին համախմբել կոալիցիայի մեջ՝ ի պաշտպանություն Ուկրաինայի, մասնավորապես՝ ֆինանսների եւ զենքի մատակարարման առումով։

Ուկրաինա ռուսական ներխուժումից առաջ եւ հետո ամերիկացի գործընկերները Զելենսկուն առաջարկել են հեռանալ երկրից, սակայն նա հրաժարվել է։ Հրատարակությունը մեջբերում է Ուկրաինայի նախագահի մի շարք այլ արարքները, որոնք ոգեշնչել են ոչ միայն ուկրաինացիներին, այլեւ արեւմտյան դաշնակիցներին։

Մասնավորապես, FT-ն հիշեցնում է. «ԵՄ առաջնորդները սարսափեցին, երբ Զելենսկին տեսակապով ասաց, որ հնարավոր է վերջին անգամ են իրեն ողջ տեսնում։ Բայց այդ գիշեր ավելի ուշ, նախագահի նստավայրի մոտ դրսում կանգնած, շրջապատված իր ամենամոտ խորհրդականներով, նա դիմեց ուկրաինացիներին»:
