Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հայտարարել է, որ թուրքական «Թայֆուն» փոքր հեռահարության բալիստիկ հրթիռները կարող են հասնել Հունաստանի մայրաքաղաք Աթենք։ Այս մասին գրում է Milliyet հրատարակությունը։

«Հիմա մենք սկսել ենք մեր սեփական հրթիռներն արտադրել։ Իհարկե, այս արտադրությունը վախեցնում է հույներին։ Երբ ասում ես «թայֆուն», հույները վախենում են և ասում՝ այն կհարվածի Աթենքին։ Իհարկե կհարվածի»,-ասել է Էրդողանը:

Նա նշել է, որ կարող է իրականացնել սպառնալիքը, եթե Աթենքը «հանգիստ չմնա» և չդադարեցնի զենք գնել արտերկրից։

«Եթե դուք հանգիստ չմնաք ու փորձեք զենք կղզիների համար գնել ինչ-որ տեղ, լինի դա Ամերիկայում, թե այլ երկրներում, ապա Թուրքիան հանդիսատեսի պես չի մնա և պետք է ինչ-որ բան ձեռնարկի», - ասել է Էրդողանը:

Հոկտեմբերի 21-ին Թուրքիայի նախագահը հաստատել է, որ երկիրը նոր «Թայֆուն»  բալիստիկ հրթիռ ունի։ Թուրքական Roketsan ընկերության մշակած հրթիռի փորձարկումները տեղի են ունեցել Սև ծովի ափին։

Ավելի վաղ Թուրքիայի արտգործնախարար Մևլութ Չավուշօղլուն Հունաստանին կոչ էր արել հրաժարվել Էգեյան ծովի կղզիներում զենքի տեղակայումից։

Սեպտեմբերի վերջին Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը հայտարարել է Հունաստանի կողմից ապառազմականացվածի կարգավիճակ ունեցող Էգեյան ծովի Լեսբոս և Սամոս կղզիներ զրահատեխնիկա տեղափոխելու մասին։

Հունաստանն ու Թուրքիան ՆԱՏՕ-ի դաշնակիցներն են, սակայն տարածքային վեճերի պատճառով նրանք բազմիցս են հայտնվել զինված հակամարտության շեմին։
