Անկարան թույլ չի տա Էգեյան ծովում Հունաստանի տարածքային ջրերն ընդլայնել ներկայիս 6 մղոնից։ Այս մասին Աթենքին զգուշացրել է Թուրքիայի ազգային պաշտպանության նախարար Հուլուսի Աքարը, հայտնում է Anadolu գործակալությունը։
Նա նաև հորդորել է Հունաստանի կառավարությանը հրաժարվել «սխալ հաշվարկներից» և տարածաշրջանում նոր էսկալացիայի չձգտել։
«Աթենքը պետք է հիշի պատմության դասերը. Թուրքիան չի տրվում հունական կողմի սադրանքներին, բայց միևնույն ժամանակ թույլ չի տա, որ տարածաշրջանում ստեղծվեն այնպիսի պայմաններ, որոնք ոտնահարում են թուրքական կողմի իրավունքները»,- ասել է նա։
Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության գերատեսչության ղեկավարն ընդգծել է, որ Հունաստանը հակաթուրքական ծրագրերում չպետք է ապավինի երրորդ ուժերի աջակցությանը։ Նա կրկնել է, որ Թուրքիան չի ընդունի Հունաստանի տարածքային ջրերի երկարացումը մինչև 12 ծովային մղոն։

Ավելի վաղ Հունաստանի կառավարության խոսնակ Յանիս Իկոնոմուն հայտարարել էր, որ Աթենքը չի հրաժարվի Էգեյան ծովում իր ինքնիշխան իրավունքներից։ Դեկտեմբերի 30-ին Հունաստանի ազգային պաշտպանության նախարար Նիկոս Պանայոտոպուլոսը հայտարարել է, որ ՆԱՏՕ-ն պետք է մտահոգվի Հունաստանի դեմ Թուրքիայի ռազմական սպառնալիքների մասին՝ հաշվի առնելով Աթենքի օրինական իրավունքը՝ ընդլայնելու իր տարածքային ջրերը մինչև 12 ծովային մղոն։
