ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը կարծում է, որ Վաշինգտոնը պետք է բանակցի Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի միջև հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման համար։ Թրամփը նաև ընդգծել է Կիև զենքի տեղափոխման հարցում ավելի ռացիոնալ մոտեցման կարևորությունը, սակայն նշել է, որ Եվրոպան պետք է մեծացնի մատակարարումների ծավալը։ Այս կարծիքը նա հնչեցրել է ամերիկացի ռադիոհաղորդավար Հյու Հյուիթին տված հարցազրույցում, որի տեքստը հրապարակված է նրա կայքում։

«Կարծում եմ, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները պետք է բանակցություններ վարի այս երկու երկրների միջև խաղաղության շուրջ, և ես չեմ կարծում, որ Վաշինգտոնը պետք է չափից շատ (ռազմական օգնությունը) փոխանցի։ Պետք է բանակցել խաղաղության շուրջ»,- ասել է Թրամփը։

Մեկնաբանելով եվրոպական երկրների կողմից Կիևի աջակցությունը՝ ԱՄՆ 45-րդ նախագահը նշել է, որ նրանք «պետք է շատ ավելին անեն», քանի որ ներկայումս, Թրամփի կարծիքով, Եվրոպան անում է ԱՄՆ-ի արածի միայն մի փոքր մասը։

Թրամփի խոսքով՝ ինքը կցանկանար, որ սա լիներ Ռուսաստանի ու Ուկրաինայի միջև վերջին կռիվը: 

«Սա պետք է անհապաղ դադարեցվի»,- եզրափակել է նա։

Reuters-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ ԱՄՆ-ն Ուկրաինային 2,2 միլիարդ դոլար արժողությամբ ռազմական օգնության նոր փաթեթ է պատրաստում, որն առաջին անգամ կներառի հեռահար հրթիռներ։ ԱՄՆ-ը կարող է մատակարարել 150 կմ հեռահարությամբ GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) հրթիռներ (այժմ Ուկրաինային մատակարարվում է 70 կմ հեռահարության հրթիռներ)։ Կիև լրացուցիչ մատակարարումների մասին վերջին անգամ Վաշինգտոնը հայտնել է հունվարի 20-ին։ Ընդհանուր առմամբ, ԱՄՆ-ն ավելի քան 27,4 միլիարդ դոլարի աջակցություն է ցուցաբերել Ուկրաինային անվտանգության ոլորտում:
