Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հայտարարել է, որ վերջին տվյալներով՝ ավերիչ երկրաշարժի զոհ է դարձել 912 մարդ, 5385-ը՝ վիրավոր, որի էպիկենտրոնը գտնվում է Քահրամանմարաս նահանգում:

«Այսօր տեղի ժամանակով ժամը 04.17-ին տեղի ունեցած երկրաշարժը Թուրքիայի պատմության մեջ ամենախոշոր աղետն էր 1939 թվականի Երզնկայի երկրաշարժից հետո։ Ցավոք սրտի, 912 մահացածների թիվը վերջնական չէ»,- ասել է Թուրքիայի ղեկավարը։

Երկրի ղեկավարը վստահեցրել է, որ Թուրքիայի կառավարությունը ձեռնարկում է բոլոր հնարավոր քայլերը՝ 7,7 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ երկրաշարժի հետեւանքները վերացնելու համար։

Ինչպես արդեն հայտնել ենք, Թուրքիայի Քահրամանմարաշ նահանգում փետրվարի 6-ի առավոտյան, ժամը 04:17-ին 7.4 մագնիտուդ հզորությամբ երկրաշարժ է գրանցվել։ Այն տեղի է ունեցել 7 կիլոմետր խորության վրա (4,3 մղոն): Դրան հաջորդել է 6,4 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ երկրաշարժ, որը տեղի է ունեցել հարավարևելյան Գազիանթեփ նահանգում: 6,5 մագնիտուդով երրորդ երկրաշարժը նույնպես տեղի է ունեցել Գազիանթեփում։ Երկրաշարժից հետո մինչև տեղական ժամանակով ժամը 06:30-ը 42 հետցնցում է գրանցվել: Ամենահզոր հետցնցումը եղել է 6.6 մագնիտուդ: Հետցնցումներից 6-ը եղել են 6 մագնիտուդից բարձր հզորության: Թուրքիայում գրանցված երկրաշարժը զգացվել է նաև Սիրիայում, որտեղ երկրաշարժի զոհերի թիվը հասել է 237-ի։

ՀՀ ՆԳՆ փրկարար ծառայության հաղորդմամբ՝ փետրվարի 6-ին, տեղական ժամանակով ժամը՝ 14:24-ին (Գրինվիչի ժամանակով ժամը՝ 10:24-ին) ՀՀ ԱԻՆ Սեյսմիկ պաշտպանության տարածքային ծառայության սեյսմոլոգիական ցանցի կողմից գրանցվել է հյուսիսային լայնության 38.05⁰ և արևելյան երկայնության 37.25⁰ աշխարհագրական կոորդինատներով՝ Թուրքիա՝ Քահրամանմարաշ քաղաքից 60 կմ հյուսիս-արևելք, օջախի 10 կմ խորությամբ, 7․7 մագնիտուդով երկրաշարժ: Էպիկենտրոնային գոտում ստորգետնյա ցնցման ուժգնությունը կազմել է 10-11 բալ: Երկրաշարժը զգացվել է Երևան քաղաքում 3 բալ, Շիրակի մարզի Գյումրի քաղաքում` 3-4 բալ ուժգնությամբ։
