Լիտվայի Հանրապետություն պաշտոնական այցի շրջանակներում Հանրապետության նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանն այցելել է Լիտվայի Սեյմ և հանդիպել խոսնակ Վիկտորիա Խմելիտե Նիելսենի հետ:

Վիկտորիա Խմելիտե Նիելսենը, ողջունելով նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանին, կարևորել է հայ-լիտվական բարեկամական հարաբերությունների շարունակական զարգացումն ինչպես երկկողմ, այնպես էլ միջազգային հարթակներում, մասնավորապես՝ ԵՄ Արևելյան գործընկերության շրջանակներում:

«Ես ցանկանում եմ, որպեսզի Հայաստանն առավել սերտացնի համագործակցությունը Եվրամիության հետ, ինչը կնպաստի ժողովրդավարական, տնտեսական և այլ բարեփոխումներին, որոնք կատարվում են Ձեր երկրում»,- նշել է խոսնակը:

Նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանն իր ողջույնի խոսքում շեշտել է, որ հայ-լիտվական բարեկամական հարաբերությունները շատ ավելի խորը արմատներ ունեն, քան կարող է թվալ առաջին հայացքից:

«Մեր ժողովուրդներն իրենց պատմության ընթացքում բազմիցս պայքարել են իրենց ազատության և անկախության, իսկ երբեմն էլ պարզապես գոյություն ունենալու համար: Այդ պայքարը պսակվել է հաջողությամբ, քանի որ այսօր Հայաստանն ու Լիտվան անկախ պետականություններ են: Ես սրտանց ուրախ եմ այն շարունակական հաջողությունների համար, որոնք ունի Լիտվան և հուսով եմ, որ մեր բարեկամության ու համագործակցության արդյունքում դուք կկիսվեք ձեր լավագույն փորձով»,- նշել է նախագահը:

Զրույցի ընթացքում անդրադարձ է կատարվել հարավկովկասյան տարածաշրջանում տիրող իրավիճակին և ընդհանուր զարգացումներին, Ադրբեջանի կողմից Լաչինի մարդասիրական միջանցքի շրջափակման հետևանքով Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում ստեղծված հումանիտար ճգնաժամին և տարածաշրջանում կայուն և հարատև խաղաղության հաստատման հնարավորություններին և հեռանկարներին:

Վահագն Խաչատուրյանն ընդգծել է, որ Հայաստանը հավատարիմ է հարևանների հետ խաղաղ, առանց նախապայմանների բարիդրացիական հարաբերությունների հաստատման իր դիրքորոշմանը: Նախագահը նաև նշել է, որ հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանում լարվածության թուլացման և Ադրբեջանական կողմից ագրեսիվ գործողությունների նվազումը պայմանավորված է նաև Հայաստանում ԵՄ Քաղաքացիական դիտորդական առաքելության ներկայությամբ: Այս կապակցությամբ նախագահը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Լիտվային, որի ակտիվ ջանքերով Քաղաքացիական դիտորդական առաքելություն ուղարկվեց Հայաստան:

Հանդիպման ընթացում քննարկվել են խորհրդարանական դիվանագիտության զարգացման ուղղությամբ անհրաժեշտ քայլերն ու նախաձեռնություններն, ինչպես նաև երկուստեք անդրադարձ է կատարվել երկկողմ համագործակցության օրակարգային հարցերի լայն շրջանակի:
