Երեկ՝ մայիսի 6-ին, առանձնակի դաժանությամբ սպանություն է տեղի ունեցել Գեղարքունիքի մարզում: Ժամը 20:50-ի սահմանում «Սևան» բժշկական կենտրոնից ոստիկանության Սևանի բաժին ահազանգ է ստացվել, որ շտապօգնության բժիշկների հերթապահ խումբը կանչով մեկնել է Լճաշեն բնակավայրի տներից մեկը, որտեղ հայտնաբերել են կնոջ դի. ըստ որդու հատարարության՝ մայրը հանկարծամահ է եղել:
Ինչպես հայտնում է ֆոտոլրագրող Գագիկ Շամշյանը, ոստիկաններն ու քննիչները նշված բնակավայրի, նշված տան ննջասենյակում՝ անկողնում, հայտնաբերել են նույն տան բնակիչ 86-ամյա Կատյա Խ.-ի դին՝ դեմքի և պարանոցի շրջաններում բռնության հետքերով: Մահացածի որդին ոստիկաններին ու քննիչներին փորձել է համոզել, որ մայրը հանկարծամահ է եղել: Սակայն դատական բժիշկը նշել է, որ որդու հայտնածը չի համապատասխանում իրականությանը: Դատաբժշիկը հայտնել է նաև որ մահացածի աչքերի շրջանում առկա են եղել կապտուկներ, քթի և բերանի շրջանի արնանման հետքեր, պարանոցի շրջանում քերծված վերքեր, իսկ աջ ձեռքի հատվածում՝ կապտուկ: Ոստիկանները մահացածի որդուն, Երևանի բնակիչ, 50-ամյա Զավեն Խ.-ին, սպանութուն կատարելու հիմնավոր կասկածանքով ձերաբակալել և տեղափոխել են ոստիկանության Սևանի բաժին, որտեղից էլ ներկայացրել են Սևանի քննչական բաժին:
Քննիչի որոշմամաբ Զավեն Խ.-ն ձերբակալվել է: Դեպքի փաստով Սևանի քննչական բաժնում սպանություն հատկանիշներով նախաձեռնվել է քրեական վարույթ: Քննիչի որոշմամբ նշանակվել է դիակի դատաբժշկական փորձաքաննություն:
