Հունիսի 19-ին, ժամը 21.50-ին, ոստիկանության Կոտայքի բաժին հաղորդում տված քաղաքացին հայտնել էր, որ քույրը՝ 1981 թ. ծնված Նվարդ Նալչաջյանը, հունիսի 18-ին, ժամը 19-ին, դուրս է եկել Պտղնի գյուղի Ամառանոցային թաղամասի իր տնից և չի վերադարձել:
Աբովյանի քննչական բաժնում նախաձեռնվեց քրեական վարույթ՝ սպանության հատկանիշներով: Իսկ ոստիկանության Կոտայքի բաժնում ստացած օպերատիվ տեղեկությունները հաստատեցին, որ հենց սպանություն էլ եղել էր:
Հետագա միջոցառումների տարբեր փուլերին միացան Քրեական ոստիկանության գլխավոր վարչության, Կոտայքի և Արմավիրի մարզային վարչությունների, Կոտայքի, Հրազդանի, Նաիրիի և Վաղարշապատի բաժինների ծառայողներ: Ի վերջո, հաջողվեց ձեռք բերել հավաստի տեղեկություն, որ առանձնապես ծանր հանցագործությունը կատարել է Արմավիրի մարզի Փարաքար գյուղի բնակիչ. 18-ամյա մի երիտասարդ:
Հունիսի 20-ի երեկոյան, կնոջ անհայտ կորելու վերաբերյալ հաղորդում ստանալուց մոտ 24 ժամ անց, Արմավիրի մարզի Մերձավան գյուղի Երևանյան խճուղու շենքերից մեկում երիտասարդը հայտնաբերվեց, ձերբակալվեց և, Նվարդ Նալչաջյանի «Միցուբիշի» մակնիշի մեքենայով հանդերձ, տեղափոխվեց ոստիկանության Կոտայքի բաժին: Անհերքելի փաստերի ճնշման տակ նա խոստովանեց արարքը:
Երիտասարդը և կազմված փաստաթղթերը ներկայացվել են Աբովյանի քննչական բաժին, որտեղ նա ցուցմունք է տվել, հայտնել դիակի գտնվելու վայրը: Փարաքար գյուղի չշահագործվող քարի արտադրամասի հարակից ձորակում հայտնաբերվել է կնոջ դիակը՝ ձեռքերը, ոտքերն ու բերանը կպչուն ժապավենով կապկպված: Երիտասարդը նաև հայտնել է, որ հաջորդ օրը կնոջից վերցրած այֆոնը ընկերոջ միջոցով վաճառել է 200 հազար դրամով:
