Բրիտանական հեղինակավոր The Times պարբերականը հոդված է հրապարակել Դիարբեքիրի հին հայկական Սուրբ Կիրակոս եկեղեցու ներկա վիճակի վերաբերյալ՝ պատմելով, թե ինչպես են քաղաքում տեղի ունեցող պայթյուններն ու ռազմական գործողությունները վնասում պատմական հայկական կոթողը: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, The Times-ի լրագրող անա Լուսինդա Սմիթը խոսել է եկեղեցու խորհրդի ղեկավար Գաֆուր Թուրքայի հետ, ով ներկայացրել է, թե ինչպես են որոտացող պայթյունները վնասում եկեղեցին:
Լրագրողը նշել է, որ հայկական Սուրբ Կիրակոս եկեղեցին փակվել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից հետո և վերաբացվել միայն 2011-ին: Գաֆուր Թուրքայը գանգատվել է, որ այն բանից հետո, ինչ Դիրաբեքիրի Սուր թաղամասում, որտեղ տեղակայված է եկեղեցին, հայտարարվել է փողոց դուրս գալու արգելքը, իրենք չեն կարողացել գնալ Սուրբ Կիրակոս և տեսնել, թե որքանով է եկեղեցին վնասված:
The Times-ում հրապարակված հոդվածի հեղինակը նշում է, որ ժամանակակից Թուրքիայի հարավ-արևելյան շրջանների բնակիչ հայերը 1915 թվականի Հայոց ցեղասպանության վերապրածների ժառանգներն են: «Պատմության մեջ սա մի դրվագ է, որը շարունակում է տրավմայի ենթարկել և բաժանել երկիրը: Սպանությունների մեծ մասն իրականացվել է քուրդ զինվորների կողմից՝ օսմանյան գեներալների հրամանով»,- պատմել է լրագրող Լուսինդա Սմիթը՝ նշելով, որ որոշ քրդական ընտանիքներ, վերցնելով հայ երեխաներին, նրանց մեծացրել են իբրև մուսուլմաններ: Սակայն մեր օրերում նրանց ժառանագները, հայտÕ �աբերելով, որ հայեր են, վերադարձել են իրենց քրիստոնեական արմատներին:
