Ռիո դե Ժանեյրոյում 83 տարեկանում մահացել է բրազիլական սերիալների հայազգի աստղ Արասի Բալաբանյանը։ Ինչպես հաղորդում են լրատվամիջոցները, Բալաբանյանը մահացել է երեկ՝ օգոստոսի 7-ին։
Հաղորդվում է, որ դերասանուհու մահվան պատճառը երկարատև հիվանդությունն է եղել։ Մահից առաջ նա տեղափոխվել էր ինտենսիվ թերապիայի բաժանմունք, որտեղ բուժում էր ստանում թոքերի քաղցկեղի դեմ։
Արասի Բալաբանյանին մեծ ճանաչում են բերել 1990 թվականի «Մետաղի ջարդոնների թագուհին» հեռուստանովելը, որում նա մարմնավորել է երեք երեխաների մայր հայ էմիգրանտի, ինչպես նաև «Նոր զոհը» հեռուստասերիալը, որում նա մարմնավորել է Ֆիլոմենա Ֆերետոյին՝ ստանալով մրցանակ հեռուստատեսության մեջ կնոջ լավագույն դերի համար։
Արասի Բալաբանյանը ծնվել է 1940 թվականին Բրազիլիայի Մատու Գրոսու դու Սուլ նահանգի Կամպու Գրանդի քաղաքում։ Նրա ծնողներն էին Ռաֆայել և Էսթեր Բալաբանյանները, ովքեր Լատինական Ամերիկա էին հասել Արևմտյան Հայաստանի Նոր Հաճն քաղաքից՝ փրկվելով 1915 թվականի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից։
