Մենք պետք է մեր տարածքները վերադարձնենք խաղաղ ճանապարհով, մեր ճիշտ, խելամիտ, պրագմատիկ քաղաքականությամբ։ Այս մասին ասել է Վրաստանի վարչապետ Իրակլի Ղարիբաշվիլին՝ հարգանքի տուրք մատուցելիս 2008 թվականի օգոստոսյան պատերազմի զոհերի հիշատակին, գրում է sputnik-georgia.ru-ն:
Ավանդաբար այս օրը քաղաքական գործիչները և շարքային քաղաքացիները ծաղիկներ են բերում և ծաղկեպսակներ դնում Վրաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականության համար զոհվածների հիշատակը հավերժացնող Մուխաթգվերդիի եղբայրական գերեզմանատանը։
«Սրանք իսկապես ապազգային իշխանություններ էին (2008-ի իշխանությունները), որոնք չէին մտածում ո՛չ Վրաստանի տարածքների միավորման, ո՛չ մեր ժողովրդի, ո՛չ մեր ազգային շահերի պաշտպանության մասին, այլ իշխանություններ էին, որոնք մտածում էին միայն իրենց շահերի մասին և դավաճանել են մեր երկրի շահերը, այս տղաներին»,- լրագրողներին ասել է Ղարիբաշվիլին։
Վրաստանի վարչապետն ընդգծել է, որ այս պատերազմից կարելի էր խուսափել։
«Եվս մեկ անգամ ուզում եմ նշել, որ նախկին գլխավոր հրամանատարը (Սաակաշվիլին) դրսևորել է մեծ անպատասխանատվություն... Դա սարսափելի ողբերգություն էր, որ պատահեց մեր երկրին ու մեր ժողովրդին»,- ասել է Ղարիբաշվիլին։
Ինչպես նշել է Վրաստանի կառավարության ղեկավարը, խաղաղությունն այլընտրանք չունի։
«Մենք պետք է վերադարձնենք մեր տարածքները խաղաղ ճանապարհով, մեր ճիշտ, խելամիտ, պրագմատիկ քաղաքականությամբ: Ես խորապես հավատում եմ դրան: Ամեն օր մենք մոտենում ենք այդ մեծ նպատակին»,- ասել է Ղարիբաշվիլին:
Օգոստոսյան պատերազմից հետո Ռուսաստանը միակողմանի ճանաչեց Հարավային Օսիայի և Աբխազիայի անկախությունը։ Թբիլիսին, ի պատասխան, խզեց դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունները Մոսկվայի հետ և օրենսդրական մակարդակով հակամարտությունների գոտիները հայտարարեց օկուպացված տարածքներ։ 2012 թվականի հոկտեմբերին կայացած ընտրություններից հետո իշխանության եկած Վրաստանի նոր կառավարության ներկայացուցիչները Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության հետ հարաբերությունների կարգավորումն անվանեցին արտաքին քաղաքականության հիմնական առաջնահերթություններից մեկը, բայց ոչ ի վնաս երկրի տարածքային ամբողջականության սկզբունքի։
Զինված հակամարտության ընթացքում վրացական կողմից զոհվել է ավելի քան 400 մարդ։
