Hightech.fm-ը գրում է, որ ՀԱՀ-ի բնակիչները հաճախ բախվում են տրանսպորտի հետ կապված խնդիրներին, որն իր հերթին կապված է էլեկտրաէներգիայի անջատումների և լարերի գողությունների հետ: Դեռահասները տեղի համալսարանի գլխավորությամբ, այլընտրանք են մշակել՝ գնացք, որն աշխատում է միայն արևային էներգիայով։

Տարիներ շարունակ երկրի բնակիչները բախվել են ածուխով աշխատող հին և վատ սպասարկվող էլեկտրակայանների խափանումների հետևանքով առաջացած էլեկտրաէներգիայի անջատումների հետ: Էսկոմ պետական ​​էներգետիկ ընկերությունը 15 տարի առաջ սկսեց ներդնել էլեկտրաէներգիայի պարբերական ռացիոնալացում, ինչը  ազդում է երկաթուղային տրանսպորտի վրա: Բացի այդ, համաճարակի ընթացքում ավելացել են մալուխների գողությունները, որոնք էլեկտրաէներգիա են ապահովում գծերի երկայնքով։ Այդ ամենը բացասաբար է ազդել երկաթուղու աշխատանքի վրա. տեղական իշխանությունների տվյալներով 2013-2020 թվականներին երկաթուղային տրանսպորտի տեսակարար կշիռը նվազել է երկու երրորդով։ Միևնույն ժամանակ ծայրամասային հատվածների շատ ուղևորներ անցել  են ավելի թանկ ֆիքսված տաքսիների ծառայությունից օգտվելուն:

Պրետորիայի հյուսիսում գտնվող Սոշանգուվա քաղաքի Համալսարանի աշխատակիցները մայրաքաղաքի  դեռահասներին հրավիրել են ինքնավար գնացք հավաքելու: Էլեկտրաէներգիայի համար այն օգտագործում է տանիքին տեղադրված ֆոտովոլտային վահանակները: Գնացքը կարող է շարժվել 30 կմ/ժ արագությամբ։ Իսկ վագոնն ինքնին հագեցած է նստատեղերով և հարթ էկրանով հեռուստացույցով` ուղևորների ժամանցը հետաքրքիր անցկացնելու համար: 20 պատանիներից բաղկացած խումբը երկու տարի է ծախսել հավաքելով իրենց շարժակազմը: Այժմ նա շրջում է Սոշանգուվեի տարածքում գտնվող փորձարկման վայրում, բայց մշակողները հույս ունեն, որ կառավարությունը կհաստատի այդ նորարարությունը, և դրա անալոգները կարող են օգտագործվել երկրի տարբեր շրջաններում կանոնավոր ուղևորափոխադրումների համար:
