Ֆրանսիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Սեբաստիան Լեկորնյուն հայտարարել է, որ Փարիզն ուսումնասիրում է Հայաստանի պաշտպանական կարիքներն ու այդ հարցին անձամբ հետևում է նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնը։
Միաժամանակ, նա կարծիք է հայտնել այն մասին, թե արդյո՞ ք Ֆրանսիան կարող է պաշտպանել Հայաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականությունը ռազմական միջամտությամբ։
«Նախագահն անձամբ է հետևում այս հարցին, որը կարևոր է Ֆրանսիայի, շատ ֆրանսիացիների և այն ֆրանսիացիների համար, ովքեր սիրում են Հայաստանը և կապեր ունեն այս երկրի հետ։ Նախագահ Մակրոնը հայտարարել է, որ Հայաստանի և հայ ժողովրդի տարածքային ամբողջականությունը, ինքնիշխանությունն ու պաշտպանությունը Ֆրանսիայի բացարձակ նպատակներն են»,- Franceinfo-ին ասել է Ֆրանսիայի պաշտպանության նախարարը։
Նա հիշեցրել է, որ բազմաթիվ հանդիպումներ է ունեցել իր հայ գործընկերոջ հետ. «Մենք Հայաստանում բացել ենք պաշտպանական առաքելություն, որը մինչ այժմ գոյություն չուներ, և որը թույլ է տալիս ամենօրյա երկխոսություն վարել հայկական բանակի, Հայաստանի իշխանությունների հետ, մասնավորապես՝ անհրաժեշտության դեպքում ուսումնասիրել նրանց պաշտպանության և անվտանգության կարիքները»։
Ի պատասխան լրագրողի պարզաբանման, թե իրականում դուռը ամբողջությամբ փակված չէ, Լեկորնյուն ասել է․
«Ձեր հարցն էր՝ կարո՞ղ է Ֆրանսիան ռազմական միջամտություն կատարել: Չեմ կարծում։ Ակնհայտ է, որ այս հարցին պետք է պատասխանեն հանրապետության նախագահն ու զինված ուժերի ղեկավարը։ Ամեն դեպքում, պարզ է, որ մենք դիտարկում ենք Հայաստանից եկող պահանջները, որպեսզի այս երկիրը կարողանա պաշտպանվել»։
