Այս հայրերը կամ վարդապետները եղել են առաքինի կյանքով ու նկարագրով հռչակված անձնավորություններ, որոնք Եկեղեցու կողմից դասվել են սրբերի կարգը և ճանաչվել որպես Ընդհանրական Եկեղեցու մեծ հայրեր, Սուրբ Գրքի հեղինակավոր մեկնիչներ, քրիստոնեական հավատի ուղղափառ ավանդապահներ: Այս մասին տեղեկանում ենք qahana.am-ից։
Տասներկու վարդապետների գործունեության կարևորագույն առանցքն ուղղափառ հավատի պահպանությունն ու անաղարտ փոխանցումն էր սերունդներին: Քրիստոնեության հիմնադրման օրվանից իսկ գոյություն են ունեցել հերետիկոսություններ, հերձվածներ, որոնց հետևորդները, սխալ ընկալելով ու մեկնաբանելով Աստծո խոսքը, զարգացրել են թյուր պատկերացումներ և մոլար ուսմունքներ՝ կապված քրիստոնեական վարդապետության հիմնարար սկզբունքների հետ: Բայց ի հակադրություն նրանց՝ եկեղեցու տասներկու վարդապետները, ամբողջության մեջ ըմբռնելով աստվածային հայտնությունը, տվել են վարդապետական առանցքային դրույթների և սկզբունքների ճշգրիտ մեկնությունը՝ ուղղափառության սահմանների մեջ զարգացնելով եկեղեցական աստվածաբանությունը: Տասներկու վարդապետների դերն ու նշանակությունն այսօր առավել քան երբևէ կարևոր է մեր հասարակության համար, որտեղ ներթափանցել են Սուրբ Գրքի կամայական մեկնիչներ, ովքեր Աստծո խոսքի՝ իրենց ոչ ճիշտ ընկալումներն ու պատկերացումները պատվաստում են մեր ժողովրդի զավակների մտայնության մեջ՝ հեռացնելով նրանց ոչ միայն իրական, ճշմարիտ փրկության ճանապարհից, այլև մեր ազգային գիտակցությունից, Աստվածաշունչ մատյանի ուղղափառ մեկնությամբ ձևավորված մտածողությունից, դրանով իսկ նաև ազգային դիմագծից ու նկարագրից: Ուստի, այս տոնը մեզ համար ևս մեկ պատեհ առիթ է՝ արժևորելու մեր նախնյաց թողած հարուստ ժառանգությունը` հավատարիմ մնալով մեր Եկեղեցուն և Քրիստոսի Եկեղեցու Ս. Հայրերի լույս հավատքին: Հայ Առաքելական Ս. Եկեղեցին տասներկու Ս. Վարդապետների խնկելի հիշատակը ոգեկոչում է Խաչվերացի 6-րդ կիրակիին հաջորդող շաբաթ օրը:
