Գուրիասն ու Սամունասը եդեսացի երկու քահանաներ էին Դիոկղետիանոս կայսեր օրոք (284-305): Որպես քրիստոնյաների նրանց ձերբակալում են, բերում քաղաքի դատավորի մոտ, որ կուռքերի առջև խնկարկելու և կայսեր պատկերին երկրպագելու հրաման տա: Մերժում ստանալով` նրանց մեկ ձեռքի վրա կախում են: Երբ հոդերը խախտվում են, կրկնում են իրենց հրամանը: Ժխտական պատասխան ստանալով` ձեռք ու ոտք կապած նետում են խոր փոսը: Տեսնելով չարչարանքներն անօգուտ են անցնում` գլխատում են Դ դարի սկզբին: Այս մասին տեղեկանում ենք Qahana.am-ից։
Աբիբ սարկավագը ծառայում էր Եդեսիայի եկեղեցում Դ դարի սկզբներին: Հալածանքների ժամանակ նա, շրջելով գյուղերում, քարոզում էր Աստծո խոսքը և քաջալերում նրանց, ովքեր հալածանքի էին ենթարկվում: Լիկիանոս կայսրն իմանալով այս մասին՝ հրամայում է ձերբակալել նրան, ինչը սակայն չի հաջողվում: Իսկ Աբիբ սարկավագը, երբ լսում է, որ իր մորն ու ազգականներին են բանտարկել, հոժարակամ հանձնվում է իշխանություններին: Դատավորը, չկարողանալով նրան համոզել, որ ուրանա Քրիստոսին, կրակով այրելու հրաման է տալիս: Սուրբը նախ աղոթում է, ապա նետվում է կրակի մեջ և ավանդում հոգին 312 թվականին: Նրան թաղում են այն տապանի մեջ, որտեղ ամփոփված էին նույն քաղաքի նույն օրերին նահատակված Գուրիաս և Սամոնաս քահանաների աճյունները:
Դիոկղետիանոսի հալածանքների շրջանում Ռոմանոս անունով կրոնավորը, ով ձերբակալվելով դատվում էր իր հավատի համար, դատավորին ասում է. «Մինչև իսկ եթե որևէ մանկան հարցնես, թե որն է ճիշտ` երկնքի ու երկրի Արարիչ միակ Աստծուն պաշտելը, թե բազում աստվածների, քեզ ճիշտ պատասխան կտա»: Արդարև, կանչում են պատահական մի մանկան, ով վերոհիշյալ հարցմանը պատասխանում է. «Մարդկանց Աստված կոչվածը մեկ պետք է լինի. մեր պաշտած Աստված միածին Որդի ունի, որ Հոր հետ մեկ է»: Զայրացած դատավորը իսկույն հրամայում է սպանել անմեղ մանկանը: Դեպքը տեղի է ունենում 304 թվականին:
