Ամերիկյան Clinical Nutrition ամսագրում հրապարակված նոր ուսումնասիրության մեջ հետազոտողները կենտրոնացել են այն բանի վրա, թե ինչպես է ուտելը և նախաճաշը բաց թողնելը ազդում ավելորդ քաշ ունեցող մարդկանց առողջության վրա: Ինչպես պարզվել է, առավոտյան ուտելը նրանց ավելի ակտիվ է դարձնում, ինչը դրականորեն է ազդում առողջության վրա։
Հետազոտության ընթացքում Բաթի համալսարանի գիտնականները 21-60 տարեկան գեր մասնակիցներին բաժանել են երկու խմբի՝ նրանցից մեկը նախաճաշել է, իսկ մյուսը բաց է թողել առավոտյան կերակուրը (նրանց թույլատրվել է միայն ջուր խմել մինչև կեսօր):

Առավոտյան ժամը 11-ին նախաճաշած խմբի մարդիկ պետք է ընդունեին առնվազն 700 կալորիա, ընդ որում այդ կալորիաների առնվազն կեսը սպառված էր արթնանալուց հետո առաջին երկու ժամվա ընթացքում: Փորձը տեւել է վեց շաբաթ։

Պարզվել է, որ նախաճաշը չի ազդել քաշի կորստի վրա, սակայն բարձրացրել է առավոտյան ֆիզիկական ակտիվության մակարդակը, որն օգտակար է առողջությանը։
Հիշենք, որ ավելի վաղ մեկ այլ հետազոտություն ցույց էր տվել, որ շաբաթական երեք անգամ նախաճաշը բաց թողնելը հանգեցնում է նրան, որ մարդիկ ավելի հաճախ են ավելորդ կալորիաներ կուտակում: Բանն այն է, որ առաջին կերակուրից հրաժարվելը մեծացնում է «խորտիկի» ցանկությունը։ Սա կարող է հանգեցնել օրական կալորիականության ավելացման, ինչը, ի վերջո, կարող է հանգեցնել քաշի ավելացման: Այսպիսով, նրանք, ովքեր իրենց զրկել են նախաճաշից, ավելի հավանական է, որ ճաշի համար ընտրեն շոկոլադե սալիկ և մեկ տուփ քաղցր գազավորված ըմպելիք:
