Qahana.am-ը գրում է, որ այս շաբաթապահքը սահմանված չէ Ս. Հակոբի պատվի համար, այլ տարվա չորս եղանակների պահքերից ձմեռնամուտի շաբաթապահքն է, և քանի որ պահքին հաջորդող շաբաթ օրը Ս. Հակոբ Մծբնա հայրապետի տոնն է, ապա ժողովրդի կողմից տրվել է Ս. Հակոբի պահք անունը։
