Китай тестирует технологию, позволяющую добывать уран из морской воды

Китайские исследователи приступили к тестированию разработанной технологи, позволяющей извлекать уран из морской воды. Этот перспективный подход способен вытеснить традиционный, на базе ископаемой руды.

Как сообщает издание ACS Central Science, специалисты из Северо-Восточного университета напоминают, что запасы урана в формате руды ограничены, могут быть истощены в обозримом будущем. Тогда как в морской и океанской воде этого важнейшего сырья растворено не менее 4,5 млрд тонн. Что в тысячу с лишним раз больше всех рудных залежей.

Проблема всегда заключалась в сложности добычи урана из воды. Этот процесс осложнен тем, что в воде он существует в ионной форме — ураниле. Чтобы уловить уранил, требуются особые материалы, до сих пор не существовавшие.

В Китае разработали новую ткань из углеродного волокна, покрытую мономерами. Последние после особой термической обработки превращаются в своеобразные «карманы», способные удерживать ионы уранила.

Ученые провели масштабные испытания нового материала и технологии, продолжавшиеся 24 дня. Они подтвердили эффективность методики. Установка извлекла из грамма морской воды 12,6 миллиграмма урана. Это очень существенный показатель.
