Հայաստանի նախկին նախագահ Արմեն Սարգյանը իսրայելական Haaretz-ում հրապարակած հոդվածում գրել է, որ Երուսաղեմի հին քաղաքում, որտեղ ապրում է հայկական սփյուռքի ամենահին համայնքը, հողային վեճի շուրջ տեղի ունեցած բռնությունը կարող է սպառնալ հայկական թաղամասի ապագային։

«Երուսաղեմի հայ համայնքի անդամների դեմ վերջերս իրականացված լայնածավալ համակարգված հարձակումները լուրջ մտահոգությունների տեղիք են տալիս»,- նշել է Արմեն Սարգսյանը՝ հորդորելով Իսրայելի իշխանությունների անհապաղ միջամտությունը։ Նրա խոսքով, այդ հարձակումները ներառում են վանդալիզմ, գույքի ոչնչացումից մինչև ֆիզիկական բռնություն անմեղ մարդկանց նկատմամբ:

Իրավիճակի լրջությունն ընդգծվել է նաև Երուսաղեմի  Հայոց պատրիարքարանի տարածած հայտարարության մեջ, որտեղ նշվում էր, որ հայ հոգեւորականները «պայքարում են իրենց կյանքի համար», իսկ Հայկական թաղամասը՝ Երուսաղեմի հին քաղաքի չորս հատվածներից մեկը, կանգնած է «բռնի կորստի» վտանգի առջև: Հայ եկեղեցին իր առասպելական գանձով, հնություններով, տիրապետում է Երուսաղեմի քրիստոնեական սրբավայրերի մեկ երրորդին, իսկ քաղաքի Հայկական թաղամասն ունի հազարամյակների պատմություն։

«Ցավոք, այն, ինչ կատարվում է Հայկական թաղամասում և նրա շուրջ,  վտանգի տակ է դնում նաև Երուսաղեմի յուրահատուկ դիմագիծը: Դա պահանջում է իշխանությունների անհապաղ միջամտությունը։ Իսրայելը, որպես օրենքի գերակայության վրա հիմնված երկիր, պետք է արագ քայլեր ձեռնարկի հայ համայնքը, նրա պատմական ժառանգությունը և Երուսաղեմի եզակիությունը պաշտպանելու համար»,- ընդգծում է Արմեն Սարգսյանը:
