Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին փետրվարի 14-ին նշում է ժողովրդի ամենասիրված տոներից մեկը` Տրնդեզը կամ Տեառնընդառաջը (Հիսուսի՝ տաճարին ընծայման տոն): Հենց այդ օրն են ծնողները բերել նորածին Հիսուս Քրիստոսին Երուսաղեմի տաճար: Դա տեղի է ունեցել Սուրբ ծնունդից 40 օր անց: Երուսաղեմի տաճարում Սուրբ Ընտանիքին դիմավորել է Սիմեոն ծերունին: Ըստ հրեական օրենքի` ամեն մի արու զավակի ծնունդից հետո, երբ լրանում էին սրբագործման 40 օրերը, նորածնի մայրն իր երեխայի հետ այցելում էր Տաճար, զոհ մատուցում և իր զավակի համար օրհնություն ստանում քահանայից: Այսպես և Ս. Աստվածամայրը 40-օրական Հիսուսի հետ ներկայանում է Տաճար:

Հայ Եկեղեցու կանոնի համաձայն, տոնի նախօրեին՝ երեկոյան ժամերգությունից հետո, կատարվում է նախատոնակ: Այն ավետում է Տերունի տոնի սկիզբը: Նախատոնակի արարողության ավարտին կատարվում է Անդաստանի արարողություն, որի ընթացքում օրհնվում են աշխարհի չորս ծագերը: Եկեղեցու կանթեղներից վերցված կրակով վառվում են խարույկներ՝ իբրև Քրիստոսի լույսի խորհրդանիշ:

Տրնդեզի գլխավոր խորհրդանիշը խարույկն է, որի վրայով, ձեռք ձեռքի բռնած, թռնում են սիրահար զույգերը կամ նորապսակները, ինչպես նաև
տոնակատարության ցանկացած մասնակից։ Տոնը համարվում է ընտանիքի օրհնության օր, հատկապես, եթե ընտանիքում կա նորածին։
Հազարամյա պատմության ընթացքում տոնին ավելացել են բազմաթիվ նախանշաններ։ Այսպես, ժողովրդի շրջանում տարածված է այն կարծիքը, որ եթե սիրահար զույգը խարույկի վրայով թռչելիս կարողանա ձեռքերը բռնած պահել, ապա նրանց սերը կլինի հավերժ։ Հնում խարույկը վառում էին հիմնականում ցորենի հասկերից: Կրակի վառվելու ընթացքում կանայք սկուտեղի վրա բերում էին Տեարնընդառաջի տոնական կերակրատեսակները` փոխինձը, չամիչը, աղանձը, ընկույզը, բոված սիսեռը՝ մի մասը բաժանում էին, մյուս մասը ներս տանում` երեկոյան խնջույքի համար: Եթե անգամ երիտասարդները բարձր չեն թռնում, հոգ չէ. տոնական խարույկի լեզվակները, դիպչելով ոտքի կրունկներին, փոխանցում են վերակենդանացման և բարեկեցության ուժ։

Խարույկի վրայով թռնում են նաև անպտուղ կանայք` հուսալով, որ դա կօգնի նրանց վայելել մայրության բերկրանքը։ Խարույկի վրայով թռնում են տոնակատարության մյուս մասնակիցները` իրենցից վանելով անհաջողությունն ու ձախորդությունը։ Դրանից հետո բոլորը ձեռք ձեռքի բռնած շուրջպար են բռնում խարույկի շուրջ։ Գյուղական համայնքներում խարույկի մոխիրը տարածվում է դաշտերով` լեփ–լեցուն բերք ունենալու ակնկալիքով։
