«168 ժամ» թերթը գրում է. «Արդեն երեք օր աշխարհը ու հատկապես՝ մեր տարածաշրջանն ապրում են միանգամայն նոր իրավիճակում. հունվարի 16-ին Իրանի նկատմամբ սահմանված միջազգային պատժամիջոցների չեղարկումից հետո մեր անմիջական հարեւան պետությունը ստացել է տարածաշրջանային ու համաշխարհային նշանակության միանգամայն նոր խաղացող դառնալու հնարավորություն, ինչն իր անմիջական ազդեցությունն է ունենալու նաեւ Հայաստանի վրա: Պատժամիջոցներից ազատված Իրանի համար Հայաստանը Հարավային Կովկասում ամենահուսալի գործընկերներից մեկն է, եթե ոչ՝ առաջինը, եւ, վստահաբար, մեր հարեւան երկիրն առաջիկայում իր կողմից ու իր մասնակցությամբ իրականացվելիք խոշոր նախագծերում ընդգրկելու է նաեւ Հայաստանին, քանի որ դա են պահանջում այդ պետության ինչպես՝ քաղաքական, այնպես էլ՝ տնտեսական շահերը:
Առաջիկայում մենք ականատեսն ենք լինելու խոշոր, լայնամասշտաբ նախագծերի, որոնց իրականացումը գոնե այս պահին անխուսափելի է թվում: Ու նաեւ այդ նախագծերի շնորհիվ, ոչ այնքան հեռավոր ապագայում մեր տարածաշրջանը կարող է ենթակվել լրջագույն վերադասավորումների, առաջին հերթին՝ ուժային կենտրոնների ազդեցության իմաստով: Ու կրկին օբյեկտիվորեն այդ վերադասավորումները տեղի են ունենալու Հայաստանի նոմինալ դաշնակից Ռուսաստանի ազդդեցության ու շահերի հաշվին:
Բնական է, որ հրապարակավ ողջունելով Իրանական ծրագրի շուրջ ձեռք բերված համաձայնությունը, Ռուսաստանն իրականում, «տակից» ամեն ինչ անելու է Իրանի նոր տարածաշրջանային դերակատարությանը խոչընդոտելու համար: Ու, դժբախտաբար, իրականում այս իրավիճակում մեծ հնարավորություններ ստացած Հայաստանը կարող է դառնալ Ռուսաստանի «գործիքներից» մեկը՝ Իրանի դեմ ստվերային պայքարում:
Ռուսաստանն առնվազն կարող է եւ փորձելու է խոչընդոտել Հայաստանի ընդգրկումն այնպիսի խոշոր, առաջին հերթին՝ էներգետիկ նախագծերում, որոնք կարող են նվազեցնել Հայաստանի ու ոչ միայն Հայաստանի կախվածությունը Ռուսաստանից: Այսօր Հայաստանի համար ստեղծվել է իսկապես բարենպաստ, գուցե աննախադեպ աշխարհաքաղաքական իրավիճակ՝ նոր, երկրի ինքնիշխանությունը վերականգնելու հնարավորություններով: Բայց այդ հնարավորություննները միեւնույն ժամանակ մարտահրավերներ են, քանի որ դրանց իրագործումը պահանջում է Հայաստանի պետական շահին հետամուտ լինելու կամք, վճռականություն, ինչն օբյեկտիվորեն հակասում է Ռուսաստանի տարածաշրջանային շահերին ու հաշվարկներին:
Հետեւաբար, Հայաստանի այսօրվա քաղաքական ու տնտեսական վերնախավի, ոչ միայն իշխանության, այլեւ ընդդիմության, հասարակական ու մտավորական բոլոր շերտերի գերխնդիրը պետք է լինի՝ գտնել այն բանաձեւերը, գործիքներն ու մեխանիզմները, որոնք հնարավորություն կտան առավելագույնը քաղել ընձեռված հնարավորություններից՝ նվազագույնի հասցնելով Ռուսաստանի հետ հակադրության ռիսկը: Երկրորդ նման հնարավորություն Հայաստանը կարող է չունենալ»:
