Փոխգնդապետ Ջեք Չերչիլը (1906-1996) հայտնի որպես «Խելագար Ջեք», ամենախելառ բրիտանացի զինվորականն էր Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի տարիներին։ Ջեքը գնում էր կռվի նետ ու աղեղով և շոտլանդական սուսերով։

1940 թվականին Ջեքը և իր ստորաբաժանումը հարձակվեցին գերմանացիների պահակախմբի վրա Ֆրանսիայի LEpinette կոչվող բնակավայրում։ Չերչիլը հարձակման հրահանգը տվեց գերմանացի սպային նետով խոցելով, ինչից հետո մտավ պատմության մեջ, որպես միակ բրիտանացի զինվորականը, ով հակառակորդին սպանել է նետով։ Դյունկերկի ճակատամարտից հետո Ձեքը որպես կամավոր մտավ Commandos-ի շարքերը, անգամ չիմանալով, թե ինչ է իրենից ներկայացնում Commandos-ը։ Նրան պարզապես հետաքրքրել էր սարսափեցնող անվանումը։ 
 
Չերչիլը Կոմանդոսի երկրորդ հրամանատարն էր  1941 թ-ի դեկտեմբերի 27-ին իրականացրած «Կրակ աղեղից» օպերացիայում, որը տեղի էր ունեցել գերմանացիների կողմից գրավված Նորվեգական Վոգսեյ կղզում։ Չերչիլը առաջինը դուրս վազեց դարանից ու երաժշտություն նվագեց շոտլանդական պարկապզուկով, մինչև նռնակի նետելը։ Իր հերոսության համար Չերչիլը Մարտական Խաչ շքանշանի արժանացավ։
 
Իտալիայում անցկացվող մարտական գործողությունների ընթացքում Չերչիլի ստորաբաժանմանը հանձնարարել էր գրավել Պեգոլետտի քաղաքը։ Հասկանալով, որ իր զորքերը չեն կարող աննկատ մոտենալ գերմանացիներին, Ջեքը ռիսկային քայլի է գնում, որը կարելի է իրական խաբեյություն անվանել։ Մութն ընկնելուն պես Ջեքը շարեց զորքերը և հրաման տվեց քայլել դեպի քաղաքը, այդ ընթացքում խրոխտ գոռալով «Կոմանդոս»։ Հնարքը ստացվեց, և գերմանացիների մոտ խուճապ առաջացավ։ Շուտով 130 գերմանացի գերի հանձնվեցին։

Պատերազմի ընթացքում Չերչիլը ևս մի քանի հրաշալի հնարքներ արեց։ Իր զինվորներից մեկի հետ նա մոտեցավ Վերմախտի զինվորների ճամբարին, որոնք ականանետերի համար խրամատ էին փորում։ Չերչիլը հանեց սուրը և հարձակվեց նրանց վրա գոռալով «Հոնդե Հոհ» (Հանձնվեք)։ Գերմանացիները զարմանքից միանգամից հանձնվում են։ Ժամապահներից մեկին հանձնում է իր զինվորի վերահսկողությանը, իսկ մյուսի վզին կապում է կաշվե գոտի և հրամայում քայլել դեպի գերմանացիների դիրքերը։ Մոտենալով գերմանացիների ամեն խմբին Չերչիլը հանկարծակիի էր բերում նրանց իրենց գերևարված ընկերոջ տեսքով և նրանց նույնպես գերի վերցնում։ Մինև առավոտ նրան հաջողվեց 42 հոգու գերի վերնցնել։ Չերչիլը նրանց վրա բարձեց ամբողջ զինամթերքը, ներառյալ հրացաններն ու ականանետերը և  բոլորով շարժվեցին դեպի անգլիացիների դիրքերը։
