Основатель Amazon Джефф Безос и его невеста Лорен Санчес предоставили 100 миллионов долларов в рамках ежегодной премии Безоса людям, которые вносят значительный вклад в развитие общества.

В этом году получателями стали актриса и предприниматель Ева Лонгория и адмирал ВМФ в отставке и бывший ректор системы Техасского университета.Билл Макрейвен. Каждый из них получит $50 млн.

Премия Безоса вручается людям, которые пытаются найти решения сложных проблем.

Первыми лауреатами премии стали Ван Джонс, юрист и комментатор CNN, и шеф-повар Хосе Андрес, каждый из которых получил по 100 миллионов долларов в 2021 году. Лауреатом 2022 года стала артистка и филантроп Долли Партон. Премии 2023 года не было.

В своем заявлении Макрейвен сказал, что хочет использовать подарок, чтобы сосредоточиться на трех областях: обучении детей умерших ветеранов, особенно в сообществе специальных операций; психическом здоровье ветеранов; и помощи в развитии будущих военных лидеров посредством образования.

Лонгория сосредоточилась на образовании и предпринимательстве в латиноамериканских сообществах. Фонд Евы Лонгории стремится объединить латиноамериканцев в регионах с низкими доходами, а у Лонгории есть стартовый фонд для малого бизнеса.
