Некоторые модели в линейке iPhone 16 получат более узкую рамку вокруг экрана благодаря реализации технологии Border Reduction Structure (BRS) на производственных мощностях подрядчиков Apple. Об этом сообщает издание MacRumors, ссылаясь на The Elec.

Технология BRS обеспечивает более компактное и эффективное расположение основных электроцепей экрана, делая рамку более узкой без ущерба для производительности дисплея или общего форм-фактора устройства. Исполнение BRS требует точных и передовых технологий производства.

Микросхемы драйверов дисплея (DDI), компоненты, лежащие в основе этой производственной задачи, контролируют активацию и подсветку пикселей на OLED-панели. Чтобы удовлетворить требования Apple, LG Display, очевидно, диверсифицирует свою цепочку поставок DDI, привлекая к участию Novatech из Тайваня наряду со своим существующим поставщиком LX Semicon. Этот шаг призван повысить уровень качества изделий при одновременном снижении затрат.

На текущий момент наверняка неизвестно, предназначена ли технология с более тонкой рамкой для всего модельного ряда iPhone 16 или для каких-то отдельных моделей. В MacRumors считают, что, скорее всего, инновация будет реализована только в iPhone 16 Pro и Pro Max, поскольку прежде уже всплывали слухи об увеличении размера экранов этих моделей без существенного увеличения размера самих устройств. Реализовать это можно только за счет уменьшения толщины рамки экрана.
