Կանաչ տերևային բանջարեղենը 30 տոկոսով նվազեցնում է գլաուկոմայի առաջացման վտանգը

Այն, որ գազարն օգտակար է առողջության համար, հավանաբար բոլորն են լսել: Սակայն Հարվարդի համալսարանի բժշկության դպրոցից հետազոտողների խումբը պնդում է, որ աչքերի առողջության պահպանմանը կօգնի բոլորովին էլ ոչ գազարը, այլ կանաչ հազարը:
Նման եզրակացության հանգելու համար գիտնականները վերլուծել են համարյա 105 000 մարդու (հիմնականում կանանց) վերաբերող տվյալներ: Հետազոտությունը տևել է 1984-ից մինչեւ 2012-ը: Դիտարկումների սկզբում մասնակիցները մոտ 40 տարեկան էին, և նրանցից ոչ մեկը չէր տառապում առաջնային բացանկյուն գլաուկոմայով, որը հիվանդության ամենատարածված տարատեսակներից է: Ջեյ Քանգի ղեկավարած խումբն ուշադրություն դարձրեց, թե ինչ քանակությամբ տերևային բանջարեղեն (հազար, կաղամբ, սպանախ, թրթնջուկ և այլ սննդամթերք) էին օգտագործում մասնակիցները:
Պարզվել է, որ մասնակիցներից նրանց մոտ, ովքեր տերևային բանջարեղեն էին ուտում, գլաուկոման զարգանում էր 20-30 տոկոս ավելի հազվադեպ, քան նրանց մոտ, ովքեր իրենց սննդում հազար և սպանախ չէին ներառում:
Հետազոտողները կարծում են, որ այս բանջարեղենը պարունակում է նիտրատներ, որոնք անհրաժեշտ են աչքի արյան շրջանառության կարգավորման համար, ինչի մակարդակը գլաուկոմայով տառապող մարդկանց մոտ ցածր է:
Հետազոտության հեղինակները ռիսկի խմբում գտնվող մարդկանց, որոնց ընտանիքներում արդեն արձանագրվել են գլաուկոմայի դեպքեր, ինչպես նաև 60-ն անց մարդկանց խորհուրդ են տալիս ամեն օր տերևային բանջարեղեն ուտել:
