Իսրայելի ուղղությամբ հարվածներ հասցնելուց հետո Իրանն այլևս բավական բաց է խոսում ոչ միայն գերտերությունների, այլև հարևանների հետ։ Հայաստանում Իրանի դեսպան Մեհդի Սոբհանին մամուլի ասուլիսում հայտարարել է, թե Հայաստանի իշխանություների հետ քննարկում են ունեցել ապրիլի 5-ին Բրյուսելում կայացած հանդիպման վերաբերյալ, և իրենց հավաստիացրել են, որ այն որևէ երրորդ կողմի դեմ չէ, զուտ Հայաստանի տնտեսությունն ամրապնդելու, Ղարաբաղից տեղահանվածների համար մարդասիրական օգնություն և աջակցություն ստանալու համար է։

Միաժամանակ Իրանի դեսպանը նշում է, որ իրենց մտահոգությունն այն է, որ Հայաստանը և Կովկասը չվերածվեն աշխարհաքաղաքական մրցակցության դաշտի, կամ Հայաստանի արտաքին հարաբերություների զարգացումը չլինի ի հաշիվ այլ երկրների: Եվ Հայաստանի իշխանությունները տեղեկացրել են, որ արտաքին քաղաքականության դիվերսիֆիկացումն ուղղված չէ Հայաստան-Իրան հարաբերությունների դեմ,- հայտնել է Սոբհանին։

Միևնույն ժամանակ նշել է, թե սխալ են համարում արտատարածքային ուժերի միջամտությունը Հարավային Կովկասի գործերին։ Արտատարածքային ուժեր ասելով՝ Իրանը նկատի ունի բացառապես եվրոպական երկրներին և ԱՄՆ-ին։ Նա հստակեցրել է, որ արտատարածքային չի համարում Ռուսաստանին, որը սահման ունի կովկասյան առնվազն երկու երկրների հետ։

Թեհրանը նաև հաստատել է իր կարմիր գծերը Հայաստանի սուվերեն տարածքի նկատմամբ։ Ուստի Իրանի դեսպանի այս հայտարարությունը կարելի է գնահատել հստակ նախազգուշացում ոչ միայն Թուրքիային և Ադրբեջանին, այլև Հայաստանին՝ հընթացս «խաղեր չտալու» և տարածաշրջան այլ երկրներ չբերելու մասին։

Առավել ևս, որ Իրանը հայտարարում է, թե Հայաստանը իրենց համար շնչուղի է դեպի ԵԱՏՄ և Հյուսիսային միջանցք, ինչպես որ Իրանն է Հայաստանի համար շնչուղի դեպի հարավ ապրանքներ արտահանելու հարցում։ Փաստացի՝ Իրանը պնդում է տարածաշրջանային գործակցությունը զարգացնելու իր պահանջը և առայժմ սպասում Հայաստանի իշխանությունների արձագանքին։
