Ապրիլի 18-ին 63-ամյա հոր անհետ կորելու մասին ոստիկանության Մեղրիի բաժնում հաղորդում էր տվել Ալվանք գյուղի բնակիչ 44-ամյա մի տղամարդ: Նա հայտնել էր, որ հայրը՝ Սամվել Ղազարյանը, ապրիլի 13-ին ավանակով գնացել է Կապան՝ գնումներ կատարելու և չի վերադարձել: Նաև հայտնել էր, որ նախկինում ոստիկանություն չեն դիմել, որովհետև փորձել են նրան հայտնաբերել իրենց ուժերով:
Ոստիկանության Կապանի բաժնի ծառայողների ձեռնարկած օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների արդյունքում պարզվել է, որ Սամվել Ղազարյանը ապրիլի 13-ի ժամը 17-ի սահմաններում անտառամիջյան ճանապարհով գնալիս հանդիպել է տարածքում բնակվող կապանցի 35-ամյա երիտասարդին, և նրա տանը երկուսով ալկոհոլ են օգտագործել: Այնուհետև գտնվելով ոչ սթափ վիճակում՝ սկսել են ինչ-որ հարցի շուրջ վիճել, որի ընթացքում 35-ամյա կապանցին բազմաթիվ հարվածներ է հասցրել 63-ամյա տղամարդուն, ինչի հետևանքով էլ նա մահացել է:
Ապրիլի 18-ին 35-ամյա երիտասարդը հայտնաբերվել, ձերբակալվել և ներկայացվել է ոստիկանության Կապանի բաժին, որտեղ ընդունել է մեղքը և հայտնել, որ սպանելուց հետո 63-ամյա տղամարդուն թաղել է իր այգու տարածքում: Նրա մատնանշած վայրում օպերատիվ-քննչական խումբը հայտնաբերել է 63-ամյա տղամարդու այրված դիակը: 35-ամյա երիտասարդը հայտնել է, որ սպանելուց հետո այրել է դիակը, հետո թաղել:
Սյունիքի մարզային քննչական վարչությունում սպանության հատկանիշներով քրեական վարույթ է նախաձեռնվել:
