«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Շեփորը փողային երաժշտական գործիք է, որն օգտագործվում է ամենաքիչը սկսած մ.թ.ա. 1500 թվականից: Արդեն անտիկ դարաշրջանում հայտնի էր թիթեղի մեկ թերթիկից խողովակ պատրաստելու տեխնոլոգիան, որը և օգտագործվում էր շեփորներ ստեղծելիս: Առաջին հիշատակումներն այս գործիքի մասին գալիս են վաղնջական ժամանակներից։ Շեփորը տարածված է եղել բազմաթիվ քաղաքակրթություններում՝ Հին Եգիպտոսում, Հին Հունաստանում, Հին Չինաստանում և այլն. այն օգտագործվել է որպես ազդանշան տվող գործիք։ Այդ դերը շեփորը խաղացել է բազմաթիվ հարյուրամյակների ընթացքում մինչև 17-րդ դարը։ Միջնադարյան շեփորահարները զորքի անբաժանելի մասն էին կազմում, միայն նրանք էին կարողանում ազդանշանի միջոցով արագ հավաքել բանակի՝ իրարից հեռու տեղակայված բոլոր զորամասերը։

Շեփոր նվագելու արվեստը համարվում էր «էլիտար», այն տարածված էր հիմնականում վերնախավում։ Խաղաղ ժամանակաշրջանում շեփորը հնչում էր շքերթների ժամանակ, մեծ քաղաքներում կար շեփորահարների հատուկ խումբ, որն ազդարարում էր բարձրաշխարհիկ մարդկանց մուտքը քաղաք, ինչպես նաև ազդարարում էր մոտակա վտանգը ու կարևոր իրադարձությունները։ Միջնադարի և վերածննդի ժամանակաշրջանում մեծացել է հետաքրքրությունը շեփորի նկատմամբ։ Բարոկկո դարաշրջանում կոմպոզիտորները սկսել են նվագախմբերում ընդգրկել նաև շեփորը։ Ի հայտ են եկել վիրտուոզ շեփորահարներ՝ «կլարինո» ոճին տիրապետող (դիատոնիկ հնչյունները շեփորի վերին ռեգիստրում՝ արտաշնչելու միջոցով)։ Բարոկկո դարաշրջանը արդարացիորեն կարելի է համարել «շեփորի ոսկեդար»։

Կլասիցիզմի և ռոմանտիզմի դարաշրջանում, երբ ամենատարածված երաժշտական միջոցը մեղեդայնությունն էր, շեփորները չէին կարողանում արտահայտել մեղեդային գծերը, ուստի մղվել էին երկրորդ պլան և նվագախմբերում այլևս գրեթե դեր չէին կատարում։ Շեփորի փականի մեխանիզմը, որը հայտնագործվել է 1830-ական թվականներին, սկզբում իրեն այդքան էլ չի արդարացրել, քանի որ հնարավորություն չէր տալիս ճշգրիտ արտահայտել բոլոր հնչյունները։ Այդ ժամանակաշրջանում փողային նվագախմբի վերին ձայնը կատարում էր կլարնետը՝ շեփորի ազգակից գործիքը, ավելի նուրբ տեմբրով և ավելի լայն տեխնիկական հնարավորություններով։

Կլարնետը նվագախմբի կազմում մնացել է մինչև 20-րդ դարը, իսկ երբ շեփորի կառուցվածքը բարելավվել է, շեփորահարներն սկսել են կատարելագործել իրենց հմտությունները և արդեն կարողացել են շեփորի միջոցով ավելի գեղեցիկ ձայն ստանալ, և այդ գործիքին հնարավորություն է տրվել դուրս մղել կլարնետը դասական նվագախմբից և կրկին գրավել իր նախկին տեղը։ Մեր ժամանակներում կլարնետի համար գրված հատվածները, որպես կանոն, նվագախմբում կատարում է հենց շեփորը, սակայն երբեմն օգտագործվում են նաև այլ օրիգինալ գործիքներ։ Այժմ շեփորը երբեմն օգտագործվում է որպես աղմկոտ գործիք սիմֆոնիկ ու փողային նվագախմբերում, ինչպես նաև այն օգտագործվում է ջազում, ֆանկում և այլ ժանրերում։
