Մատենադարանում այժմ պահվում է Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժամանակ Վասպուրականից տեղափոխված ավելի քան 1470 ձեռագիր

Հայտնի է, որ 1915 թ. հայոց ձեռագրերն ուրույն պատմություններով են անցել իրենց փրկության ուղին: Դրանցից մեկը Լիմ մենաստանի վանահայր Հովհաննես վարդապետ Հյուսյանի նախաձեռնմամբ Վասպուրականից ձեռագրերի փրկության և Սուրբ Էջմիածին տեղափոխման առաքելությունն էր, հայտնում են Մատենադարանից:
՛՛Ապրիլյան կոտորածի օրերին Հովհաննես վանահայրը հոգում էր թե՛ վանքի շեն մնալու, թե՛ ձեռագրերի և թանկարժեք սպասքի պահպանման, թե՛ հազարավոր անմեղ հայերին Լիմում ապաստան տալու և մահից փրկելու խնդիրները։ Լիմ կղզում նա կազմակերպել էր պաշտպանություն, որի արդյունքում նավերով կղզի էին հասել և փրկվել շուրջ 12 հազար մարդ՝ այնտեղ մնալով մինչև մայիս ամիսը, երբ հայ կամավորական խմբերը և ռուսական զորքերը մտան Վասպուրական։ Հուլիս ամսին ռուսական զորքերի ժամանակավոր նահանջը ստիպեց կոտորածից ողջ մնացած հայությանը բռնել գաղթի ճանապարհը։
Հուլիսյան մեծ գաղթի ժամանակ Արևելյան Հայաստան գնացող ժողովրդի հետ Հովհաննես վանահայրը և Կտուց մենաստանի միաբան Ստեփան վարդապետը Սուրբ Էջմիածին են տանում ձեռագրերի առաջին խմբաքանակը։ Այդ գրչագրերից 17 ընտիր նմուշներ ներկայացնելով Գևորգ Ե. կաթողիկոսին՝ Հովհաննես վանահայրը դիմում է Վեհափառին՝ խնդրելով Վասպուրականից բերված ձեռագրերը պահել Մայր Աթոռում։ Նա ստանում է հայրապետի օրհնությունը վերադառնալու Վասպուրական` ձեռագրերը և սրբազան սպասքը փրկելու նպատակով։
1915 թ. օգոստոսին ռուսական զորքերի և հայ կամավորների առաջխաղացումը հնարավորություն է ստեղծում հայության համար վերադառնալ Վասպուրական։ Վեհափառի ցուցումով Հովհաննես վարդապետը, Ստեփան վարդապետը, Աղթամարի վանքի միաբան Դանիել վարդապետ Զադոյանը և Թիֆլիսի Կովկասյան թանգարանից նրանց միացած հնագետ, պատմաբան Սմբատ Տեր-Ավետիսյանը հավաքում են Աղթամար, Լիմ և Կտուց կղզիներում մնացած ձեռագրերը, Վարագավանքում գտնվածները, Վանի եկեղեցիներում պահպանվածները և 1916 թ. հունվարին Հովհաննես վրդ. Հյուսյանի գլխավորությամբ բերում Սուրբ Էջմիածին։
Մայիս ամսին Հովհաննես վարդապետը Վասպուրականի տարբեր վայրերից գտած ևս մի խումբ ձեռագրեր է ուղարկում Սուրբ Էջմիածին։
Այսպես, 1915-1916 թթ. փրկվում է շուրջ 1440 միավոր։ Այս մեծ հավաքածուին ավելանում են նաև գաղթականների բերած սակավաթիվ մատյանները :
Մատենադարանում այժմ պահվում է Մեծ եղեռնի ժամանակ Վասպուրականից տեղափոխված ավելի քան 1470 ձեռագիր՛՛,-ասված է հաղորդագրության մեջ։
