«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.
Այս օրերին երբեմն կարելի է հանդիպել կարծիքների, թե ինչպես կարող է հոգևորականը գլխավորել քաղաքական շարժում, ինչպես կարող է լինել վարչապետ (թեպետ այդ մասին ներկայում դեռևս խոսք անգամ չկա) և այլն: Իրականում հենց թեկուզ մեր ժողովրդի պատմության ընթացքում ոչ մեկ անգամ Եկեղեցին ու հոգևոր դասն են կանգնել երկրի ու ժողովրդի փրկության ակունքներում: Ավելին, համաշխարհային պատմության մեջ ևս շատ բացառիկ բան չէ, երբ հոգևորականը գլխավորում է ժողովրդական շարժումը, ապա և՝ պետությունը: Սոցցանցերում բերվում է, ասենք, Կիպրոսի օրինակը: Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ Կիպրոսը դեռևս բրիտանական գաղութ էր, և այն ժամանակ Կիպրոսի ուղղափառ եկեղեցու հովվապետ Մակարը գլխավորեց ազատագրական շարժումը:
Կիպրոսի անկախության հռչակումից հետո Մակարն ընտրվեց այդ երկրի նախագահ: Նա մինչ այդ բավական ծանր ճանապարհ էր անցել, ընդուպ ձերբակալություն, աքսոր և այլն, բայց չէր հանձնվել: Ի դեպ, 1975 թվականին նա վերստին ընտրվեց նախագահ ու պաշտոնավարեց մինչև իր մահը՝ 1977 թվականը: Իհարկե, նման համեմատություններն այսօրվա իրականության և Բագրատ Սրբազանի հետ հազիվ թե ամբողջովին արդարացված են՝ հաշվի առնելով ժամանակաշրջաններն ու հանգամանքերը, բայց մի ընդհանրություն, այդուամենայնիվ, կա. ինչպես այն ժամանակ, հիմա էլ Արևմուտքը (Կիպրոսի դեպքում՝ Բրիտանիան) և Թուրքիան փորձում են ամուր պահել իրենց ձեռնտու «իրերի դասավորությունը», այս պարագայում՝ Հայաստանի գործող իշխանություններին, որոնք հլու հնազանդ կատարում են նրանց թելադրանքը՝ Հայաստանը վերածելով յուրատեսակ գաղութի:
Սակայն շատ փորձագետներ գտնում են, որ, բացի իր անձի, իր տեսակի, նաև հենց միայն հոգևորականի գործոնը, պատմության ընթացքում հոգևորականների հետևողականությունը ծանրագույն, անելանելի թվացող վիճակներում՝ յուրատեսակ երաշխիք է, որ Սրբազանը չի հանձնվի ու գործը կհասցնի մինչև վերջ:
