Ցանկացած գործողություն, որն սպառնում է Չինաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականությանը և մարտահրավեր նետում «մեկ Չինաստանի» սկզբունքին, անհապաղ պատասխան կստանա։ Ճեպազրույցի ընթացքում նման հայտարարություն է արել ՉԺՀ արտգործնախարարության պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Վան Վենբինը։
«Ցանկացած գործողություն, որը մարտահրավեր է նետում «մեկ Չինաստանի» սկզբունքին և սպառնալիքի տակ դնում ՉԺՀ-ի ազգային ինքնիշխանությունն ու տարածքային ամբողջականությունը, անհապաղ և վճռական պատասխան կստանա Չինաստանի կողմից», – Վենբինի խոսքերն է մեջբերում ՏԱՍՍ գործակալությունը։
Չինաստանի արտգործնախարարության խոսնակն ընդգծել է, որ Չինաստանը «վճռականորեն դեմ է հանդես գալիս ԱՄՆ-ի և Թայվանի միջև պաշտոնական փոխանակումների ցանկացած ձևի, ինչպես նաև դեմ է հանդես գալիս կղզու գործերին Միացյալ Նահանգների` ցանկացած ձևով ու պատրվակով միջամտությանը»:
Վան Վենբինը հիշեցրել է, որ «մեկ Չինաստանի» սկզբունքի պահպանումը «քաղաքական հիմք է և ցանկացած օտարերկրյա պետության համար ՉԺՀ-ի հետ հարաբերությունների զարգացման պարտադիր պայման»:
Հունվարի 13-ին Թայվանում անցկացվել են Օրենսդրական յուանի (խորհրդարան) վարչակազմի ղեկավարի և պատգամավորների ընտրություններ։ 64-ամյա Լայ Ցինդեն, որն այն ժամանակ զբաղեցնում էր կղզու վարչակազմի ղեկավարի տեղակալի պաշտոնը, հաղթանակ է տարել՝ հավաքելով ձայների 40,05 %-ը։ Երդմնակալության արարողությունը տեղի է ունեցել մայիսի 20-ին։ Հաղորդվում է, որ ներկա են եղել ԱՄՆ-ի քաղաքացիներ։
