Количество утечек данных Минобороны Великобритании выросло почти в пять раз с 2018 года. Об этом говорится в опубликованном газетой i статистическом анализе.

Отмечается, что в 2023 году произошло 550 случаев утечки данных в британском оборонном ведомстве, в то время как за пять лет до этого было зафиксировано 117 подобных эпизодов. Газета указала, что в большинстве случаев речь идет о «неавторизованном раскрытии» информации. Также были выявлены случаи утечки данных в результате потери компьютерного оборудования или бумажных документов.Издание напомнило, что в 2023 году Управление британского комиссара по информации оштрафовало Минобороны королевства на £350 тыс. ($445 тыс.) после того, как были скомпрометированы персональные данные более 260 сотрудников ведомства. Комментируя приведенную статистику, теневой министр обороны от оппозиционной Лейбористской партии Джон Хили обвинил правительство консерваторов в «слабом подходе к кибербезопасности».
