«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Աշխարհահռչակ Բրեկս գարեջրի ապրանքանիշի պատմությունն սկսվել է 1873 թվականին Բրեմենում։ Գարեջրի գործարանի հիմնադիրը եղել է տեղացի ձեռնարկատեր Լյուդեր Ռուտենբերգը։ Նա իր բիզնեսն սկսել էր շինարարության մեջ, և մինչև 1873 թվականը նրա գլխում միտք է ծագել ստեղծել գարեջրի գործարան: Այդ օրերին գարեջրի գործարանների սեփականատերերն (ինչպես և շատ այլ ձեռնարկությունների) իրենց անունով էին կոչում գործարանները, և տրամաբանորեն գարեջրի գործարանը պետք է կոչվեր Ռուտենբերգ։ Այնուամենայնիվ, Լյուդերը, որը հասկանում էր գարեջրագործությունից սպառողի մակարդակով, որոշել է գարեջրի գործարանն անվանել նրանց անունով, ովքեր իրականում հասկանում են այդ արբեցնող ըմպելիքից: Այն անվանվել է Հենրիխ Բրեկսի և Թոմաս Մեյի պատվին, որոնք աշխատանքի էին ընդունվել արտադրությունը ղեկավարելու համար։

Թոմաս Մեյը լքել է ընկերությունը երկու տարի անց, և նրա անունը կրճատվել է գարեջրի անունից. ըստ այդմ, այն անվանվել է Բրեկսի կայսերական ընկերություն: Գարեջրի հենց առաջին խմբաքանակը աղմուկ է բարձրացրել տեղական շուկայում, թեև ոչ թե իր յուրահատուկ համի, այլ շշերի գույնի պատճառով, որոնց մեջ լցվել է գարեջուրը: Այն ժամանակ կանաչ շշերը հետաքրքրություն էին առաջացնում նույնիսկ Գերմանիայում։ Տարածաշրջանից դուրս Բրեկս արտադրանքը սկսել է հայտնվել 1876 թվականից հետո, երբ Բրեկսը ստեղծել է նոր գարեջուր, որը հիանալի է եղել արտահանման համար, ինչը և հաստատվել է հաջորդ տարի Ֆիլադելֆիայի ցուցահանդեսում, որտեղ Բրեկսի գարեջուրը գրավել է առաջին տեղը: Նույն թվականին էլ պիտակների վրա հայտնվել է ծանոթ բանալիով զինանշանը, որից հետո գարեջուրը սկսել է գրավել արտաքին շուկաները։

Ի դեպ, այն ժամանակվա զինանշանը որոշակիորեն տարբերվել է ժամանակակիցից: Բանն այն է, որ ընկերության ղեկավարությունը պարզապես առանց վարանելու կրկնօրինակել էր Բրեմեն քաղաքի զինանշանը, և 1884 թվականին, երկար դատավարություններից հետո, ընկերությունը փոխել է պիտակների զինանշանը: Կայսերական գարեջրի գործարանի գարեջուրն իր ժողովրդականության արագ աճով պարտական է ոչ միայն իր բարձր որակական հատկություններին, որն ավանդաբար Գերմանիայում միշտ պահպանվել է, այլ նաև Բրեմեն քաղաքի ռազմավարական դիրքին։ Քաղաքը գետային նավահանգիստ է, և ամբողջ գարեջուրը ուղարկվում է Վեզեր գետի երկայնքով դեպի արտասահմանյան շուկաներ։

Ի դեպ, ժամանակին Բրեկս գարեջրի ժողովրդականությունը արտասահմանում այնքան մեծ էր, որ մինչև 1949 թվականը այն պարզապես գոյություն չուներ բուն Գերմանիայում, քանի որ ամբողջ խմբաքանակն արտահանվում էր։ Ընկերությունը եղել է մի քանի տարբեր ընտանիքների սեփականություն մինչև 2002 թվականը, երբ այն գնել է բելգիական Interbrew կոնցեռնը 1,8 միլիարդ եվրոյով։ Այսօր Բրեկսը գարեջրի հայտնի ապրանքանիշ է աշխարհում: Միայն Գերմանիայում վաճառվում է մոտ 250 մլն լիտր այդ անվանման գարեջրի տարբեր տեսակներ։
