Ցավոք, մեր երկրում իշխանությունն անգամ տոտալիտար բնույթ չունի: Որովհետև նորմալ, ջիգյարով տոտալիտար համակարգերը՝որպես կանոն, իրենց իշխանության պահպանման և հավերժացման սիմվոլներ են կառուցում՝ մոնումենտալ շինություններ՝ ասենք Մոսկվայի ԱԳՆ-ի շենքը, որ կառուցվել է Ստալինի օրոք, կամ Չաուշևսկուի կառավարման տարիների Ռումինիայի Дворец Парламента-ն: Երևանի բոլոր հնարավոր հին շենքերը քանդելը գեղցիության բացարձակ դրսևորում է...

Ոչ ոք չի պնդում, որ Երևանի պետք չեն արդիական բարձրահարկեր, բայց կարելի է այնպես կառուցել, որ հարմոնիկ լինի: Ֆաշիստական օկուպացիայի ժամանակ, օրինակ, Վարշավայի հին մասը մինչև վերջին շենք պայթեցվեց: Լեհերն էլ կարող էին շատ հանգիստ դրա փոխարեն էլիտար շենքեր կառուցել, բայց չարեցին՝ նկարներով մաս-մաս վերականգնեցին: Եվ եթե որևիցե մեկին թվում է, որ Աբովյանից գեղեցիկ է ստացվել, չարաչար սխալվում եք: Նույնն էլ մեր մոտ կարելի էր անել՝ Աբովյանը վերականգնել հին Երևանի մեկ կամ երկու հարկանի շենքերով, ասֆալտի փոխարեն սալապատել, իսկ, ասենք, Աբովյան-Թումանյան խաչմերուկից մեքենաների մուտքն արգելել: Բայց չէ, պետք է շենքերի բակերում անիմաստ կառույցներ պատրաստել ու անունն էլ դնել՝ սարայ ենք քանդել: Մի խոսքով, անգամ տոտալիտար իշխանության խելք ու մտածելակերպ չունեք...
