Ոստիկանության օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն հունիսի 15-ին, ժամը 16.36-ին, զանգահարած կինը հայտնեց, որ մոտ 10 րոպե առաջ ինչ-որ նյութ են փչել հարսի աչքերին ու հափշտակել վզնոցը:
Ոստիկանությունից հայտնում են, որ հաղորդումը փոխանցվել է ոստիկանության Մալաթիայի բաժին, որտեղից էլ օպերատիվ խումբը մեկնել է դեպքի վայր: Հարսից ընդունվել է հաղորդում: Պարզվել է, որ Անդրանիկի փողոցում նյութը դեմքին փչելուց հետո մի տղամարդ պարանոցից քաշել-պոկել է խաչով շղթան` պատճառելով 550 հազար դրամի վնաս:
Մալաթիա-Սեբաստիա վարչական շրջանի քննչական բաժնում նախաձեռնվեց քրեական վարույթ, որի շրջանակում ձեռնարկված օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների ու քննչական գործողությունների արդյունքում պարզվել է, որ ավազակությունը կատարել է մայրաքաղաքի Արարատյան 1-ին զանգվածի բնակիչ 41-ամյա մի տղամարդ: Ի դեպ, կասկածյալը նախկինում բազմիցս դատապարտվել ու կրել էր պատիժը` այդ թվում նաև ավազակության համար:
Հունիսի 18-ին, առավոտյան ժամը 11-ին, 41-ամյա տղամարդը հայտնաբերվել է բնակության վայրի տարածքում, ավազակություն կատարելու կասկածանքով ձերբակալվել է, իր վարած մեքենայով հանդերձ տեղափոխվել ոստիկանության Մալաթիայի բաժին, ապա ներկայացվեց նախաքննական մարմին:
